What's the best way to tell between CGC squished case with all the problems and current good case from a picture? Thanks.

Take a close look to see if there is an inner well holding the book. If there is no inner well, the book looks squashed between the plastic sides. That tells you if the case is from the 6 month period with the defective cases. Hope this helps!

Thanks, mkb28. I should have said from an online picture.

Is there an easy way if can't see any oily effect that those cases are known for. Is there something different on the CGC label to quickly tell from a picture. Maybe a side by side of the two would help me. If anyone can provide that shows what to look for besides oil effect from an online picture.

If I was to look up notes for a CGC # would it give me the date of the encasement? Seems like this would be the hardest way though to look up several potential purchases. Is there an easier way?

It would be very easy to see if they were side by side. The newest cases have an inner well. You can tell by looking at the corners of the comic. If there is a well/trough with extra spaces around the corners then you have a new (good) case. The crummy cases literally smash the book between two pieces of plastic. Very obvious when looking.

Thanks SummyDad1, I'll look for this well/trough with extra spaces around the corners for the good cases.
