I just wondering, I saved up the first 10(?) issues of Harbinger to get #0 when I was a kid.

How many of you on the boards were into Valiant back in 1991ish and sent in and got Harbinger #0?

I can remember someone saying that I should buy Magnus, but I was too busy saving up my Next Men coupons. I didn't jump onto Valiant until Unity.

Yeah Unity was the big coming out party for Valiant, but also beginning of the end. Plus that Mothergod killing everyone didn't help!

I too missed the Valiant boat until Unity, but I did send in all 7 Image coupons for an Image #0.

Wait, did I just type that out loud?

I didn't jump unto Valiant until the Accliam issues - VE1 was always too pricey for me.

I started collecting Valiant with X-O Manowar #3 and didnt buy Harbinger until Unity until it was too expensive for a teen with no regular job yet to buy the first issues they went for mega bucks at my LCS.

There was a stark contrast. Image comics were loud, in your face art with little story (mostly) and terrible shipping. At the same time you had Valiant with strong story, serious plots and always on time shipping. The one thing smart Image stole from Valiant was 0 issues and coupons.

To be fair to my younger self, Spawn #3 was the first comic I had read since Mutant Massacre X-Men days and it did indeed catch my eye. I stayed with it thru the Frank Miller issue, and picked up the other coupon issues, but by then I was on to Valiant. 7 years later, when I actually received my copy of Image #0, I was on to Strangers in Paradise, Preacher, Astro City...I had forgotten all about it. Sold it with my other Image issues - probably paid for a couple new issues that month. :)

Harby #0, to get back on topic, I saved up and bought in the spring of '94 - so pretty much at it's highest price point. I was very proud to finally have a copy. I think that was just about the last Valiant I bought. Or pretty close. Sold the whole collection a year later. Good times.

Any word if the new VEI will incorporate #0 issues or coupons again?

Starting to make me feel old. Did no one here buy Valiant when it first started out? I mean Magnus and Solar, not Nintendo (ugh).

Am I just the oldest person here or was I just a visionary? I'm sticking to visionary. :)

Solar #10 was my first Valiant issue that I bought new, then Unity #0 I think.

Don't know if you're the oldest here, but many of us just missed the boat initially. I was buying comics when Valiant started, but it was mostly Marvel. Like many I got into Valiant around Unity.

Also, you are a visionary. :)

I was a big Marvel guy too. Mostly Avengers (who are apparently are huge now). But I was also really into Transformers (also some how huge now).

I think I started w/ Magnus because it was Kung Fu, robots and sci-fi and just stuck with the whole line cause the stories were so good.

Sorry I missed this thread-I got 2 from the mail in program, would have had more but I couldn't track down any more Harby 4's for less then like $50.

I've got plenty of Harby 4's now though. :D
I am selling "nothing" on ebay-yet.

I had em (single issues) but was unwilling to cut them up to get the 0...got pink years later after the dust settleed...

I pulled most, if not all Pre-unity off the rack at the shop I used to frequent in Palmdale, ca at the time...

The second print of Solar 10 was my first Valiant book (I think?), and then everything after. I was 16 that year. :D

I have no idea.

Frankly - I never really made it past the first six issues.

I liked 1-3, then tolerated until six - just for the pack of cards.

I think I only had two weeks between issue six coming out and the due date for the card thing.
