MY Valiant Story
Due to popular demand
I was a big fan of Barry Windsor Smith due to his work on Conan, Iron Man, X-Men and Wolverine. Never heard of Magnus or Solar before I saw the great cover of Solar # 1 by BWS. LOVED the insert (Alpha &Omega), I thought it was a brilliant marketing idea to get people to come back for more. Once Harbinger came out, I was hooked. (Remains Shooter's Magnum Opus IMHO). Unity sealed the deal for me.
I am sure the story is the same for a lot of fans. Post Shooter Valiant is shaky at best. I thought BWS continued producing superb work with A&A, but within a year of Shooter's departure, the quality of story telling was in steep decline. I especially thought what they have done with Harbinger was criminal. Stopped reading all the titles, with the exception of Shadowman, Magnus, Rai, Eternal Warrior, Turok and X-O Manowar until the end of VH1 universe.
I was mildly excited about VH2, especially as Garth Ennis was a favorite then (still is). Picked all the titles, instantly hated most of them, but actually enjoyed Quantum and Woody, Master Darque series and Armorines. And some issues of Shadowman were alright.
Still maintain a healthy dose of Valiant CGC collection and original art. Managed to get fantastic valiant commissions from Bob Layton, Don Perlin, Bob Hall, Joe St. Pierre, Andy Smith, Lee Garbett, Howard Simpson and the GREAT David Lapham!! Nostalgia is a good thing!!
LOVE the new relaunch. With the possible exception of Bloodshot (whom I never cared of, in any incarnation), I think all the titles are amazing. Personal favourites are X-O Manowar and Archer & Armstrong.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Welcome. Unless you're Canadian. We're full up. (I had not been including this message, but the Canadian members have been a little out of hand lately, so I'll have to start keeping them in line again)
