My own Valiant story

Post by first_citizenx »

Howdy, everyone. I'm new here, in that I've never posted, but I signed up way back in early 2008. I guess I'm kinda slow. :?

Anyway, I used to read X-O Manowar back in the 90's and was a fan of the character. I also dabbled a bit in some of the other Valiant titles enough to familiarize myself with the general universe. Eventually, I drifted away from comics for a bit in the mid 90's and the original Valiant folded up during that time frame. In the late 90's, I got back into collecting and reading comics, but unfortunately, Valiant was essentially done and gone.

I kept reading the usual stuff I always liked, such as the Avengers or the Justice League but as time went on, I kept growing more disillusioned with "The Big Two" and their output. Maybe its just me, but I was finding myself less and less thrilled with their output. I still love superheroes, but all the classic characters were changing and I didn't care for what I was seeing. When I heard that Valiant was coming back, I was immediately intrigued. I kept this nugget of info on the back burner in my mind until, eventually, a 2012 release date was announced. I was eager to try out this new Valiant!

Long story short (too late, I know), I dropped most of my "old" pull list at my local comic shop and I enjoy following the adventures of my old pal X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Archer & Armstrong and Shadowman! I have been reading the Harbinger Wars as well, although the title of Harbinger is the one Valiant title I haven't read as of yet. I'm really impressed with most everything I've been seeing Valiant putting out. I feel they have been doing things right in their staged roll out of title and taking their time universe building. Having lost pretty much all interest in Marvel and DC, its great to have somewhere else I can go! Darn it, this new Valiant universe is fun! Its been a while since I've had fun following comics.

Happy first anniversary Valiant and here's to many more!

Welcome! Your story is similar to mine, and most on here. (I guess I need to update My Valiant Story, as I left the board for about 2 years after joining).

If you've been a lurker, you already know the atrocities of the Canadian board members such as MarkRoseHfx and grendeljd. If you haven't been keeping up - avoid the Canadian members! Bad juju. :kidaround:

Glad to have you posting!
*SQUEE* your science, I have a machine gun.

LOL! Thanks, guys. I'll do my best to eat tacos and avoid canucks.

Hey, I was wondering, is there anywhere we can post artwork of ours? I drew a picture of Bloodshot and it would be cool to have somewhere to put it where people who know the character can see it.

Yeah, I have no reason to think I wouldn't like it. I read the last issue of Harbinger as a part of the Harbinger Wars crossover, so I may just keep on reading from this point. I started reading Archer & Armstrong with #5, as I always liked the Eternal Warrior, and I added the series to my pull list. X-O Manowar, Bloodshot and Shadowman I've been with from their starts.

If you are interested, I have an extra set of A&A 1-4 and I believe the first 6-7 issues of Harby that I would offer to you at a significant discount. Just shoot me a PM if you want to catch it from the start.

Thanks, everyone!

You know, the weird thing is, I signed up back in 2008, hung around for a bit, lurking and such, then completely forgot about it when my computer died on me! I "found" this place (again) a day or two ago and happily tried to join, only to discover I was already a years long member! Duh!! facepalm

Anyway, now that I have everything figured out, I'm sure you'll be seeing me around :D

Welcome to Posting! I'm enjoying seeing your work in the fan art thread, keep it coming!

Now just make sure you correct that little problem about not reading Harbinger

Oh, and don't listen to that Lorddunlow punk about the Canadians 'round here - he sits on a throne of lies  [but we are in the process of taking over]
