My Valiant Story
Hey Folks,
My name is Eric and I'm a longtime Canadian lurker. Valiant wasn't the start of my collecting but when life has permitted, its been the focus and favorites of what I read. My Valiant story started in high school. Me and most of my friends were into most of the usual suspects of the late 80's - early 90's, and we even had a English teacher in high school that had been a collector as well. It was in one of these conversations with him talking about artists we liked, that I brought up Barry Windsor Smith. I'd really liked his style and to my surprise it was one of my teachers favorite as well , with his work on Conan basically getting him into comics in the 70's. At this point he recommended I pick up Solar from this newer company named Valiant. Well, the rest i can say is history. I had been collecting for a few years and i had been collecting quite a few books, but with valiant books i couldn't get enough. The stories were so good it was hard to collect a series and not the Universe, and even before Unity came out , all the valiant books were on my monthly lists. As adulthood came along , i had to get rid of 3/4 of my collection ( my uncanny run netted me about 5 months rent at one point ), but other then a few valiant books i sold to friends, that 1/4 i kept was mostly Valiant. For the next 15 years or so I stayed out of comics, dabbling with launch of Acclaim/Valiant and Civil War, but both didn't stick with me. When nostalgia hit me from time to time, I googled Valiant and it brought me to this site. But last x-mas it was different , NEW COMICS! So I stepped into a comics store for the first time in years and picked up what i could of the new stuff, partly from nostalgia but i was floored with the story and art of the new stuff and well. So.... guess who has a pull list of VE stuff and finds himself searching for V1. Once a collector, always a collector i guess. I better wrap this up as most of you probably stopped reading at Canadian, and just say its nice to meet you all even though I've been watching for months

And a Website!

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.

NOOOOOOoooooooo! No more Canadians! That's It!
Welcome to the boards. It's fun here. I'd tell you to avoid the Canadian members, but that would cause you some personal conflict.

Thanks for the warm welcome and fueling my addiction to all things Valiant. Also drowning in poutine gravy would be a good way to go.

Passive.
Aggressive.
Get used to the New Order! I am growing to love seeing you squirm in your anti-Canadian rhetoric!
