My Unfinished Valiant Story
Hello. I have been collecting Valiant since 1992, although until recently I had not bought a book since 2002 or so. My collecting started with Unity and I quickly found myself knee deep in Bloodshot, A&A, Ninjak, Solar, Magnus, Harbinger, X-O and Shadowman. I was unable to afford the key early books as a teenager, but by the time 2000-2002 rolled around I was snapping up copies of the gold variants and early keys. These days, I am picking up all of the series I didn't read back in the day. My goal is to have all books, variants included, published under the original Valiant banner. The Acclaim stuff holds no interest to me currently, but I'll check it out once my original Valiant set is complete.

Welcome to the board!
Have you seen the board's inventory system? Not only does it make it easy to track your collection, but you'll soon find items you never knew existed.
"What's this? News stand editions?! What's a VVSS?!"

Re: My Unfinished Valiant Story
I just checked it out and will definitely be making use of the inventory feature. What I saw when looking at the current stuff confirmed my worst suspicions. They have gone variant nuts. Faith #1 had over 10 different covers! When I get around to the current books, I will probably just wait for TPB/Omnibus type books that collect all of the stories and covers in one place rather than track down so many copies of the same books. I guess they know what they are doing and find profit in it, but for me, the multiple covers are off-putting. The first iteration of Valiant got it right by doing the occasional gold or platinum variant of key books. Printing multiple covers of every-single-issue is just too much.jmatt wrote:Welcome to the board!

Newsstand vs Direct never seemed like a true variant to me, so I'll be content with nice NM+ copies of either version when checking books off my list. I have a few VVSS books, but numerous ones elude me

It's nice to see Joes and Cobras able to show some civility towards one another. Maybe there's hope for the world after all?DirtbagSailor wrote:
