As for the condition of everything...... FF 101 had a 1 inch sq. cut out of the cover, The Cat 1 was only in good cond. Everything else appears to be in at least FN with most much higher. VF seems the avg. Many would be nice slab contenders. The Iron Fist 14 looks like a probable 9.6 for instance. The DVD's had not even been watched. The previous owner was definately a collector & not a reader or viewer.

Lots of people are needing money & are turning loose parts of their collections if not everything. At least thats what I've been seeing. When things start showing up in my area ( the Sahara Desert of comics) its a pretty good sign that people are going through their garage, attic, strorage building or basement looking for things they can part with. Theres a lot of comics that have not seen the light of day for years that are starting to find their way into garage sales, auctions, and radio and newspaper ads.
Oh, back to the bragging thread. Today, I bought a Haier 65 pint dehumidifier still in the box for $40 (Sells at Wal-Mart for around $200). I know its not comics, but its great to protect collections if you live in a humid area. I've got a 50 pint Frigidaire in my main comic room that works great. It usually draws around 25-30 pints out of the room every day. I'm going to put the new one in my smaller comic room. I wasn't planning on buying another dehumidifier, but the price was great.

For those of you who live in a lot less humid climates, its hard to imagine just how moist the air gets, and Arkansas is less humid than some of our neighboring states. I never really considered how much water is in the air here until my wife bought the 50 pint dehumidifier from Lowes for my comic room. While my rooms are in the basement, I've never thought of them as really damp. Its not a true basement in that its a walkout. 2 sides look like its a true 2 storied house. Only the other 2 sides are underground. There has never been standing water and the walls do not fill damp. When I hooked the dehumidifier up, I figured I would empty out a few pints a day at the most. Was I wrong! The "bucket" holds 25 pints according to the instruction manual. It fills up everday within 24 hours. Sometimes in around 20 hours. It depends on the weather conditions. It has done this everday since Christmas. I've been meaning to hook a direct line outside, but I've not drilled through the wall yet. I've got to get a longer bit. I have noticed a lot of difference in the temp. Its a lot warmer now, and I no longer have to run an electric heater. For those of you who live in humid areas, I Highly recommend you look into getting a dehumidifier if you have a large, costly, or treasured comic collection.

I heard you guys got slammed. In Tampa, we got very little rain, but crazy wind.JustCallMeAric wrote:I can only imagine the amount of water that a dehumidifier would pull out of my apartment. I live in Tallahassee, FL and we have gotten over 9 inches of rain this week
Don't think about opening a comic book outside in Florida to look at, read or whatever. The covers will crinkle up as soon as you take them out of the bag.
