Thanks Jay. I keep forgetting to update the list and take off the slabs we've discussed. I'll do that now.BloodShot wrote:Patience, grasshoppa' .Intrepidxc wrote:Still looking!

What no Saga #1 or Manifest Destiny #1 on your Image list? I surely hope that's because you already have them..
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

I have Manifest Destiny #1 at CGC right now (hopefully garnering two 9.8s ). I don't really care for Saga. Something about it just rubs me the wrong way. I just can't get over the guy with horns on the cover.Aram wrote:What no Saga #1 or Manifest Destiny #1 on your Image list? I surely hope that's because you already have them..

Maybe you can convince Intrepidxc to try Saga out. I gave it my best shot and I even offered to send him all three volumes to read them for free! No interest.

Whats with the dude with Big Horn sheep horns . Then there is the girl with some weird green wing looking things . None of that even sparks my interest. Plus I don't need yet another series to read.

If you open the cover you'll see 2 CRT monitors with nude human bodies having sex doggy style (I guess you could say they are nude humanoid creature with CRT monitors for heads, but the way I put it is more accurate). That's high literature right there.Intrepidxc wrote:I just can't do it. Re: WTB - Valiant/Image Slabs and Raws
Meh, I won't bother.. I guess some people just have different tastes.. and some people like to judge books by the cover..
And again some people are WEIRD and just have absolutely no interest in reading what is arguably the BEST comic on the shelves today.. Something that is gritty and edgy and "mature themed", yet still appeals to both sexes and also across a wide demographic.
I mean it must be a horrible story with horrible art to only be fluctuating around the top of the graphic novel charts and only be selling a solid 3-4000 EACH additional volume 1 and 2 trade paperbacks EVERY single month these days, 2 years after it started.. oh and it's doing some weird thing with having almost no drops or fluctuations in print runs.. even though every other title on the planet seems to drop steadily off in the long run, fluctuate widely and/or only tend to rise when there's gimmicks..
I mean it's not like the first issue is going for hundreds in a plain Blue label cgc 9.8.. and continuously rising.. even though there are almost 1000 graded copies out there in Blue label 9.8...
Yeah.. I think it's better for people to just skip trying it.
I mean.. shoot, after trying to get her to read dozens of different titles over the years.. my wife read it and now she actually likes reading comics. We wouldn't want something like that to continue in the world.. It might usher in world peace and harmony and therefore the Apocalypse.

Ok, Ok, point taken. If you can take that much time to write up something to make me feel bad for not reading Saga I can probably check it out. Good thing tomorrow is FCBD and my LCS has 20% off all TPBs.Aram wrote:Meh, I won't bother.. I guess some people just have different tastes.. and some people like to judge books by the cover..

Even cheaper is the Humble Bundle digital comics. Pay whatever you want - it includes the Vol. 1 of Saga (and a ton of other stuff).Intrepidxc wrote:Ok, Ok, point taken. Aram, I'm going to try Saga again through this bundle, but I still think BKV is just getting his jollies off by putting sensational things in it for no reason. I didn't care for #1 at all - it just seems like porn with a good story. But to each his own. I'll give it another try since I'll own it.
Fiona Staples is something else. How awesome would it be to get her on a VEI title?

I recommend listening to the podcast, "Under the Comic Covers" where they discussed Saga Volume 1. Good stuff!

Re: WTB - Valiant/Image Slabs and Raws
You guys have peer pressured me into picking up Saga. I just finished FCBD at my LCS. In addition to my free comics I picked up Vol 1 through 3 of Saga (at 20% off I might add).
I'll start reading Saga tonight. If I don't like it you guys will have hell to pay! (not really, but you know I can't let you all off the hook that easily)
