Crazy Rare Books on eBay this week (Not Mine)
Check it out; several of these are not seen very often (if ever at all really) and WOW, depending on your own collecting goals, there might be 1-2 major "Grails" up for grabs!

When I saw the 9.8 Sig Series on the EW #1 Gold, and the verbiage "Holy Grail", I immediately thought of you. Did you own this as one point?DirtbagSailor wrote:Check it out; several of these are not seen very often (if ever at all really) and WOW, depending on your own collecting goals, there might be 1-2 major "Grails" up for grabs!

Re: Crazy Rare Books on eBay this week (Not Mine)
I did own this book (unless it’s a different CGC 9.8 SS (Miller) slab...), and will say that it was an adventure in itself to find a NM+/M raw copy AND keep it protected from Frank Miller’s fingers at a convention while he charges hundreds of dollars for his signature; then having CGC witness the whole thing before sending in for grading.
If that book came back a 9.4 or 9.6 I would have completely lost my *SQUEE*!
Anyhow, it didn’t, and I was quite happy as you might expect. I never really planned on letting it go, but was given an offer I could NOT possibly have refused (at least insomuch for furthering my own personal collecting goals).
Regardless, that slab is a complete BEAST!
Best of luck for whoever wins it!

Re: Crazy Rare Books on eBay this week (Not Mine)
These are all incredible comics. At this point in time... Which one or two would y'all consider "Grails?" If you could pick one or two (for free)... Based on 15 -20 year investment potential only.... Which would you choose?
I would probably incorrectly go with the DMGs. Probably thousands of these would show up later knowing my luck. These seem to me like extreme wild cards long term since nobody seems to know much about the actual number of issues that are not in China. However, if they are truly rare... They could be known /linked to the movie deal announcement (of a hopefully successful movie run).

Re: Crazy Rare Books on eBay this week (Not Mine)
For me it would be the EW1 sig series. It has too much going for it. Rarity, grade, and Frank Miller might not be with us very much longer. You won't see this book again.

That EW 1 Gold FM SS is sick!
Say that 123 times fast!
I got the bargain of the century when I snapped up Knobrow's signed FM Sin City trade in JMatt's Children's Fund Auction here on the boards. A steal!

Great story. I found an EW #1 Gold flat at Wizard Con NOLA, and submitted it for grading (unfortunately, no Frank Miller or anyones to get a signature). Looking forward to seeing its final CGC grade.DirtbagSailor wrote:I did own this book (unless it’s a different CGC 9.8 SS (Miller) slab...), and will say that it was an adventure in itself to find a NM+/M raw copy AND keep it protected from Frank Miller’s fingers at a convention while he charges hundreds of dollars for his signature; then having CGC witness the whole thing before sending in for grading.

I wonder how much ending his auction today versus yesterday might affect his final prices . I hope he gets what he was hoping for, you never know with these things. Maybe they'll go higher???corey wrote:Well I planned on cleaning house tonight since my paypal credit was at 0.lol but recent news has made me be a spectator in these auctions tonight

welp, i guess this is why we have seen the mass unloading of huge books by (largely) mystery sellers lately. wonder if a bunch more previously unaccounted for DMGs come out and tank the going rate. wonder how the B/S/T market reacts as a whole

Not a mystery seller. I know the guy, and have sold to him several times in the past. I’ve also bid against him in the past for some of these books.FlipMega wrote:welp, i guess this is why we have seen the mass unloading of huge books by (largely) mystery sellers lately. wonder if a bunch more previously unaccounted for DMGs come out and tank the going rate. wonder how the B/S/T market reacts as a whole
This was NOT a hidden hord or stockpile; it was part of a collection built over the past few years like many of us have done.

I would actually prefer that, I have a Mouse Guard slab like that.
