X-O Ring

Post by Bob Layton »

Hey, folks--
I found my gold X-O ring but I can't find the box that it came in.
How much does that change its value? I have no idea.

Gold rings come up so seldom I don't know if we have a idea of what the "value" is. I certainly wouldn't mind much if the box was missing. You could get a silver one and put it in there... :-)

I doubt the missing box affects the value very much. Up until you had posted that you own a gold X-O Ring I was never sure they really existed. I had heard that 50 were given away at a Diamond Retailers convention years ago. Do you know anything about how many were made? As far as a value for the Gold XO Ring I would think it would have to be in the $400 - $600 range (at least).

Can you post a picture of it?

The elusive Gold!

Yes, a picture would be fantastic...
and if you can remember how many exist, that would be great...
At one point I thought it was something like 10 or 12,
but if you remember 50 or 100... we'll go with your vote!

Look-- I'm willing to part with it if someone makes me a decent offer.
If you're interested, e-mail me at:
bob@futurecomicsonine.com

And--if the box ever turns up, I'll make it part of the deal.

Does it smell like an old penny? Then you'll know it's the bronze ring!

There were NO solid gold X-O rings made. This one is plated with a gold finish.
Is it's actual gold? I have no idea.

No takers on the ring?
Okay--I'll hang onto it until I can find a decent charity auction to donate it to.
Does anyone know what the going rate for one of these things is?

I didn't know what to think about that one in that auction...
It certainly LOOKS gold (or gold-plated), but it's probably just
a very nicely-polished bronze X-O ring.
Hopefully the new owner can tell us about it when he receives it. :)

damn, that looks sweet.
i've been kicking around the idea of just getting mine gold/silver plated so i can wear it without it getting all tarnished on me.
if i wasn't trying to get my wife to fund some purchases that would very nearly complete my valiant run i'd certainly be interested in this.
but hell if no one is going to bid on it then who am i to turn down fate.

So will a gold ring with original (and different) packaging finally prove the existence of the gold X-O Manowar ring?

Pics to follow . . .
