What can I say about this show? Awful does not begin to describe it. Many creators bailed early Sunday (aargh missed Clay Mann, the one I went to see!). Some like Greg Horn, Neal Adams, Mike Zeck had a good show but no one else did. Many people complained but we're worried Wizard may hear them. A lot of stories of poor treatment and petty revenge. The con was very empty and many people just wanted out. Comic Madness was there as well. But that was it really. A couple of very small booths with a handful of comics. No Valiant books on display. There was a couple Bloodshot reborn blanks. Ken Lashley made the whole trip worth it thankfully. I got 2 pages from his independent series Tiyu and told me that he finished a XO commission for me. He said he will post it on Facebook for me. I did get some cgc books but they were just some minor books that mean something to me. But everyone was talking about the Valiant movie news so at least that is positive. :thumb:

Wow. That's terrible. I had heard great things leading up to this show.
I'm shocked that the crowds were not good.

Ruck, I would love to hear anything, and I mean anything more about this show.
I was suppose to do it, but had to cancel.

I talked to several dealers who were very disappointed. They were expecting much more. Like I said a lot of their talent left early Sunday because as they said there was no point in staying. Some people just barely made their booth fees, not even enough to cover expenses! :( I know Redues? Cancelled and so did Felton, so that really hurt. Like I said soooo few comic books. CGC had three people sitting around doing nothing. From 2-5 I think only me and 2 other people went to their table. Half the hall that they were using was empty space. Honestly I think you may have done well because people were looking for comics. Anthony's was overpriced, comic madness is normally morden/ hot books only and as I mentioned very little else. I saw no Edge of Spider verse 2, regular or Variant. Silk was all over with the Variant ASM 4 going for $60.

They didn't have a lot of vendors and artists. They left a lot of room between everything trying to make it look fuller. It was easy to see.

I had heard this show flopped hard. Thanks for the details. I think Felton was at C2E2. I wonder why it turned out so bad. Other than the obvious, Wizard having somewhat of a bad reputation, same weekend as C2E2 and just too many shows these days.

That may be part of it, but really how poor is your planning if you only have 3 comic book vendors? You may be right that the dealers they thought would be there, and then they weren't and it was such a disaster. The spacing of the booths also added to how bad everything felt because it felt empty even when people were there. And the artists I wanted to meet were already gone. Thank God for Ken Lashley!

It seems like if a city has a semi successful show, Wizard tries to set up a new show there the next year. I heard they tried to set up a show in Salt Lake and that's why Salt Lake Comic Con added a second show every year - to block Wizard out. I think Amazing did well in Vegas last year so Wizard jumped in to try to capitalize. Hopefully the Amazing show continues to be a success.
Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.

The feeling among locals that I talked to was Amazing is the show in Vegas and they would skip Wizard in the future. I remember the good old days when Wizard meant something and was a industry leader. Sad how things change sometimes.

I loved both wizard shows I've done so far.
Sorta seems like I would have done well at Las Vegas.

I can tell you that last years WW Sac was packed and every dealer I talked to did amazing.
I'm talking about SDCC level crowds. Of course in a much smaller building, but still packed.

Also I like the way they organize and run the show.

Like I said I don't know much how they are other places but from what I heard yesterday, I would never go to another. That's just me though.

Shows just aren't the same anymore. The younger folks I see don't seem to be interested in issues like guys of my generation are. Just seems like the new normal. Less comic dealers. More comic stuff dealers.

Overall, this has not been my experience doing shows.

I think a lot of people still look for books. I go to cons either for talent, or panels. All the books I can get other places. So I take my kids or just go for the experience. This one was a let down, but most are a great time!and there are always stories....
