Looking for a Marvel New Universe nerd...
Wow...it's been way too long since I've been on this forum...
Anyway - many moons ago I wrote some killer articles on the Ultraverse, Impact, and my favorite piece of all time...Valiant Comics.
Many years later I want to do the same thing...this time tackling Marvel's New Universe.
I love the books and the concepts ... And while the story has been told in bits and pieces I've never read the story all in one place with as many interviews as possible done with those involved in the process.
It's a story I now want to tell. But this time around I decided I don't want to write it alone. I'd love to have someone who knows the New Universe well, someone to help come up with interview questions, someone to bounce ideas off of.
If you have no clue who the hell I am...just Google me. Granted I populated a hell of a lot more when I was consistently writing for Newsarama, Latino Review, and Ain't It Cool News...but you can still find some stuff online including those articles I wrote (I believe they are archived at Sequart).
If this sounds at all appealing...please hit me up.

Whoa. Were you just resurrected along with the ActionPacks thread?
Were you trapped there by some arcane magic? Did Iggy save you from the depths of the forums?

I'm like Candyman or Beetlejuice...someone somewhere says my name three times and I annoyingly appear.

Fate that I dropped in today?
Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.

Re: Looking for a Marvel New Universe nerd...
I'll do my best to pay attention to this thread, if you're looking to toss out some ideas. I'm still a fan of the New Universe & have been since it originally came out (and I still actively work on completing my set of all the books).
Jim Shooter is actually a board member here now, while I doubt he's overly active you could probably get in touch with him either by sending a PM to him, or alternatively by asking Knob Row to contact him about your project - I'd bet he's willing to talk about it if you're doing a legitimate article on it.

Re: Looking for a Marvel New Universe nerd...
I go back a couple years with Jim so he's the easiest person to at least contact. Not sure if he'll want to talk about it...but I know he's been very open about his Marvel experiences in the past. It gets a bit harder because two key players have passed on. Trying to get others to talk is also the hard part...but I'm certainly committed to trying to tell a more complete story then what's out there.
I was a fan right from the get-go though I was sad that one of my favorite series (Spitfire) was one of the ones cancelled.
ALSO if anyone has scans of Marvel Age 47 50 59 that would be very useful. They are not in the collection...

I know a bit about this universe. At least I used to. I'll be keen to see what you write about it, Ryan.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

Re: Looking for a Marvel New Universe nerd...
It may be very slow going. My entire New Universe comic box seems to be gone...must have lost it in my recent move. So...LOL...there goes th research. Looked on Comixology and all they have is issues of Starbrand. So I'm thinking finding a co-writer at this point is essential.

Re: Looking for a Marvel New Universe nerd...
Oh no, that sucks! Nows a good time to write an article too, as it's been 30 years since the New U launched... There is a new, recent article on CBR about it. I'm gonna double post a quote from another thread here;RyanMcLelland wrote:It may be very slow going. My entire New Universe comic box seems to be gone...must have lost it in my recent move. And while I also doubt there will be much fanfare to mark the occasion, someone did write an article about it on cbr.com;
