DC Vertigo Statues ~ Sandman & Fables
I will start with Fables as that is one of my favorite reads right now . . .
These production pictures were originaly posted at statue forum but I thought some people might find it interesting . . .
Bigby & Snow White
enjoy:
Designed by Mark Buckingham; Sculpted by Jim Maddox
The Bigby & Snow White statue had very few initial orders and is limited to a ridiculously small run of 400 statues. The last 3 ebay sales have all been around $300.00
Rose Red and Shere Khan
Rose Red is due to be released in a week or 2 . . .
Sandman
Original Bowen Sandman ~ one of the first that helped kick start this comic statue hobby (limited to 1800)
Bowen Death (limited to 6000)
Destiny statue sculpted by William Paquet (limited to 3000)
Bowen Arabian Nights Sandman (limited to 7000)
2001 DC Direct Death statue
Cain and Abel Bookends sculpted by William Paquet (limited to 1200)
10th anniversary statue (limited to 5000)
Sandman Absolute statue (limited to 5000)
. . . more to come . . .
(I need a good picture of the fullsize Sandman bookends . . so if you have them, I don't yet, please post a pic)

I have the Destiny, Sandman Arabian Knight and 10th ann. as well as the Kaine and Able bookends and they are all detailed and beautiful. I love the original Sandman. I still remember the $100 price tag and almost pulling the trigger on it. $100 was a lot of money then. Harlan Ellison was bragging about his on a show he had on Sci Fi network when it was brand new. I was blown away that there was a tv show about comics (it was about all forms of science fiction, but I only paid attention to the comic stuff)
I recently saw a couple of the Kelly Jones Batman statues that was the 1st or 2nd statue right behind the orginial Sandman. They were $700 and $900 and that is cheap. You never, ever see either of of them for sale.
I really like that Rose Red and may get the Snow White just because of the low production run...

I just found out that the Rose Red statue is limited to 500 pieces . . .
I can't believe the edition sizes are this low . . . It will probably prevent them from making more but I have to think that the value will only go up . . .
The fanbase is getting bigger and bigger . . . everyone I give the first trade to is hooked . . .
This will be interesting to watch . . .

Well, I never really had a nice area to display it in my old house, so it just kind of sat around undisplayed. Once we moved, I decided to sell instead of hauling it to the new house. It was always getting dusty and looked faded, like the one in the picture. I'm really not much of a statue collector, anyway.siren3-4 wrote:That's a great statue . . . why the sale ? You need the room or just wanted a change ??Brother J wrote:
one of the few statues I have ever owned. I had it for several years before I finally sold it.

Bigby & Snow is limited to 400 . . very hard to find and regularly sells for aroud $300whovianone wrote:Wow, I didn't know they put out Fables statues. I may have to hunt this down for the better half.
Very nice!
Rose Red was just released recently, is limited to 500 and you should be able to get it right now for $150 shipped . . . (retail is $199)
If the fan base grows though 500 is not a big number . . .

Let me check around a little . . . I think if you are patient you should be able to get one for $30 -$50 dollarsX-O HoboJoe wrote:How much is too much to pay for it?MedicAR wrote:Yup.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Hey, did they do a mini-statue of that first Bowen Sandman?
But really there are some pretty nice statues you can get for the same amount that are full size . .
The 10th Anniversary statue sells for that same amount :
Ebay auction ~ not mine
I think it was $65 or $75 new. I haven't watched the market at all, though. I'd really like one since the full size has spiraled out of control price-wise, and I have a nice Kelly Jones page with an image very similar to the statue.X-O HoboJoe wrote:How much is too much to pay for it?MedicAR wrote:Yup.X-O HoboJoe wrote:Hey, did they do a mini-statue of that first Bowen Sandman?

Ebay or a private seller . . .X-O HoboJoe wrote:Where, pray tell, can one maybe get a Bigby/Snow or has that ship sailed?
I scoured the internet looking for this a few months ago . . I wanted it as a gift for the little lady . . . I ended up having to go the Ebay route myself . . .
If you can get it for $250 you got a good deal . . . There is more appeal to this than the Rose Red statue and there are less of them . . .
I kick myself for not pre-ordering when I had the chance . . . I figured I would be able to get it cheaper later . . . I never expected the ES to be 400 . . . that is insanely low for a full size production piece . . .
The statue is nice and big also . . I will try to post a comparison pic . . .
