I just had a flashback to the early nineties when a friend and mysef were buying imported figures from a guy at London show and doubling our money.
His Turtles line was awesome as there were a few that werent released over here too, plus as Drift mentioned we had packaging that said Hero turtles.
I have some of the UK comics still, when me move into our new premises next week ill drag em out and take some pics.

Finally landed a vintage MOC set of these guys....
I remember passing them up as a kid because I was getting out of TMNT at the time. It was a big mistake because these are highly sought after now from the line.
This is a great set too - all MOC, great cards, no breaks in the glue, no bubble dents and unpunched. MWA!

I think Hot Spot is the fireman dog. Not as desired as Scratch, but still in demand. Also the Shogun figures (with chrome colar variations) are very tough, and not cheap. There are the turtles, Shoate, Triceraton, possibly Splinter and Shredder, and I think one other. Very sweet figures. The two sumo turtles (I believe Michaelangelo and Raphael) are quite desirable as well. I haven't bought any in a while, but I've been casually collecting these (loose, complete) for a few years. I'll probably streamline the collection like most of my toys to the core good guys, and shoot for a comprehensive set of villians.

There might be a year stamp on them somewhere, no?

G.I. Joes have year stamps on them. But the year stamps are misleading because they re-used the molds.IMJ wrote:toddyboy wrote:if they look like the ones in the pics I just posted, they're originals.superman-prime wrote:I bought around 1000 action figures today and some of the ones i don't now how to distinguish are the turtles, how do you tell the original from the newer ones ?

The "Original" TMNT figures were re-done for the 25th anniversary.
Upon closer inspection, all four have a stamp on the back that says:IMJ wrote:toddyboy wrote:if they look like the ones in the pics I just posted, they're originals.superman-prime wrote:I bought around 1000 action figures today and some of the ones i don't now how to distinguish are the turtles, how do you tell the original from the newer ones ?

This is on the bottom of the shell for the turtles, and just below the hood for the foot soldier. Footie also has an "A" stamped on his *SQUEE*.

Sure, but they didn't upgrade the dates at all?Unblessed wrote:G.I. Joes have year stamps on them. But the year stamps are misleading because they re-used the molds.

This reminds me that I've got a lot of TMNT stuff to unload here. It sucks because the market is good for nothing right now.

I saw the "new" stuff in TRU about a month ago. I refuse to pay $12+ for one of the "new" figures. F THAT.IMJ wrote:Sure, but they didn't upgrade the dates at all?Unblessed wrote:G.I. Joes have year stamps on them. But the year stamps are misleading because they re-used the molds.

You're actually better off starting a vintage collection.....Unblessed wrote:I saw the "new" stuff in TRU about a month ago. I refuse to pay $12+ for one of the "new" figures. TMNT is almost as bad as G.I. Joe hunting when it comes to obsessive collecting... lol! But it's so much fun to put those sets together!

I imagine that finding complete figures can be difficult. Is there a book or website that lists all the accessories of each figure?IMJ wrote:You're actually better off starting a vintage collection.....Unblessed wrote:I saw the "new" stuff in TRU about a month ago. I use the Old Toy Archive at the official TMNT site when I'm compiling figures and weapons.
Just click on the figure you are matching weapons for, and look at the MIP display.
