Spielberg's Gremlin Prop on eBay

Post by IMJ »

I tried to swipe a picture to post here, but I can't right click and save it because of eBay's new picture manager.

Genuine Movie Prop Gremlin Figure

I love the occasional authentic movie prop, and this would be a gas to own but honestly I have no idea what I'd do with it.

22 hours, currently at a paltry $179 USD.

That's pretty neat. Since it's a miniature, it would look pretty cool in an acrylic display case. :thumb:

I do not know anything about this type of stuff, but it seems a bit fishy. If I was selling that, I would have a BIG pic of the COA to avoid all the COA questions.

HAHAHAHAHA this made me laugh out loud...
It was the "and I don't like his wording" part. I read it and saw an old man in my head going "It Stinks. And I don't like it."

Totally fake.

Prop collecting is one of my other hobbies. If you want to see some real Gremlin props for sale that are 100% legit, you can see them for sale here

Man, I can't believe people would get ripped off like this. So little to go on, barely a description, a certificate that looks like it came from a factory. Not to mention the auction makes no mention of an armature (metal skeleton inside) which is how they do the movement. This one is 5.5" but the "real" one at propstore is 7" http://www.propstore.com/products.htm?k ... viewMode=2 not to mention a hell of a lot more detailed. This one that sold also doesn't even have a finished paint job it appears.

Awesome input on this...
You know when I looked at that picture the thought actually crossed my mind (and guys from my generation will remember this), that the Gremlin in that photograph was one of those little hard plastic toys that you threw into water and they grew and got 10x's bigger and were sort of slimy and spongey when you were done with them.

God help me if no one else remembers these...

I remember those. They were awesome. However, one of the reasons I thought that it was fake is that it was green, in a shade reserved for green screen work, which was not being done at the time the movie was made. It also did not look sturdy enough to be a real prop, but at the same time it appeared inflexible. Instead, it just looked like...well, as Draco said, crap.

Those are still around. I picked up an Iron Man one when the first movie came out.

I loved the old Gremlins/He-Man/Star Wars stuff from back in the day and now, my daughter has discovered the joy of those things...through Dora. Yep, she has a self-grown "Dora the explorer", hanging on a string above her bed. Kids...what brings us together :thumb:
