I enjoyed the issue. It felt like it was mostly a setup issue, though. I think we still have to see with Kay what the endgame is. Lemire set this whole story up with Kay so obviously he knew what was happening with her from the beginning.

It doesn't bother me. At the end of The Valiant, when Kay fell, they left enough nuggets to suggest something was up. That's not a retcon, that's a story element.

Now if Flamingo were to return, yeah, that's a retcon.

I liked the issue. I'm sure Chris from Calgary is going b@tsh1t on VCR though.

I thought this was a great issue! Incredibly fast paced and unpredictable with how the Ray and Kay parts played out . When they regressed to being children, Bloodsquirt showing up, links to the Valiant mini etc

My only gripes are (as Grendel from OTV points out) the premise for the nanites and PSR 'saving the day' seems dubious. Also, Kozol's 'take over the government/be a new world power' seems a bit much, perhaps Lemire could have toned that down a few notches.

I hope Kay does not come back from the dead, the most I'll accept is if that she remains as Deathmate (ie the nanites keep her 'alive').

The very last panel confused me, was that Kay on the motorbike? So there were 2 Kays?

Braithwaite's art was superb here, definitely worth recognition.

4/5 :thumb: (would have been more only I'm not convinced by the PRS lot)

So that's another illusion as you hear her say 'Ray' off panel when Kay and Ray are embracing? Interesting :hm:

Yeah, that's gonna confuse a lot of people. Especially in an entire issue where who-knows-what-is-real.

I mean, I'm pretty sure Magic resembling Kay is supposed to be the whole point. She's meant to be like a living ghost of the one woman he ever truly loved, hence why he grew to love Magic.

Of course, the entire Ray/Kay thing feels completely devoid of chemistry to me, but then again that's what happens when you rush such a relationship over the last two issues of a four-issue mini.

Yeah, I agree on the Ray/Kay relationship being rushed, I think thats maybe why that part of the story isn't really resonating for me.

I would agree, they never really had much of a romance, per se. But I'm just taking it as a given at this point.

I agree with everyone that says that Kay and BS being a thing does not feel organic. Their relationship lasted what, 4 issues in which they basically were friends? That White Knight stuff? C'mon...
I always felt that whenever that was mentioned it did not click well with me. Magic is Ray's girl- we have seen that dynamic grow for 2 years, now.
The whole reversing age stuff was unnecessary, I think. Bloodsquirt was meh and with Stalinverse in the same month, it felt like it consequences' free. Kozol's plan is bwhahwhawha *SQUEE* and just anti-climatic. Boring, actually.
This would be one of the worst Bloodshot Reborn arcs, but being its own series, just makes it worse.
Not a fan, although the first couple of issues had some cool stuff in it.
