Hmmmmm....not keen on this issue, weakest of the run so far. Deadside stuff just doesn’t interest me, Valiant need to stop pushing it so hard in many of the books, especially as Shadowman is there for the readers who like that stuff.

I’ve been a fan of Gage’s work on Ninja-k so far but the dialogue needs work. Far too much conversation/explantation going on between characters during fight scenes, feels ‘old fashioned’. Gage needs to find a more subtle way to to convey what the character motivations are and not have them explain to each other whilst simultaneously trying to kill one another.

Hope issue #10 is back back to Ninjak as a solo character doing his spy/espionage stuff.

3/5 - enough Deadside and unrealistic dialogue

I enjoyed this issue as a wrap on the story arc - some fun and well drawn action, still loving all the “evil” immortal characters, and particularly liked the hook with the Dying One getting away in Gilads body. A story to look forward to in the next arc to see if he can track him down.

Also continue to be bemused & amused by dallowspicers complete dislike of all things deadside related :P :kidaround:

 because it’s boring and it spoils the other books! Stay in your lane magic stuff! :P

On another note Grendel, were you ok with the dialogue in this issue? Surely there’s a better way to convey plot? Why don’t writers use thought balloons these days?

Don’t want to be too unkind to Gage as I do like what he’s doing with this book, andcyes the undying one getting into Gilad’s body is a good hook! :thumb:

I think the previous issue had more clunky dialogue than this one did, but I do agree with you about the use of thought balloons. I’m not really sure why they’ve become so thoroughly avoided in more modern comics. I suspect it has to do with a more conscious shift in comparing the comic medium to that of movies, where you cannot “hear” people’s thoughts as dialogue generally. It’s popular to assume that “less is more” but I think it’s been taken too far.

I think this is one of the best arcs I've read in a long time. Loved the action, dialogue and art. Great issue! Great characters and turn of events!

+1

couldn't agree more. Ninjak (both Kindt's and now Gage's run) has been a consistently high standard book.
