Sad to see this run end too soon.

We’ve finally seen Jack work his way through the darkest part of his personal journey, & properly back into a more positive frame of mind with a strong, established supporting character in Alyssa and a fresh new wrinkle on his powers as Shadowman. I’m left feeling like I really want to read some new adventures from this point onward, and yet now we’re letting the character fall back into background limbo once again. Ugh.

This final arc was not the strongest of the series. There were some really rough patches of additional art in there around Renato’s stuff. Was excited to read about Sandria Darques return, and yet she felt a little like a 1-dimensional villain at times here.

Good bit of a twist in there though, with the Brethren making a big play for Master Darques remains. Are they all wiped out once again? Say what you will about them also potentially being a little thin in their motivations, I still enjoyed them as a relatively realistic slant on a villainous organization - just a bunch of selfish rich people looking to add to their personal status with some dark magic power. If we keep killing off what few villains we have in the VU, we’re gonna end up with even more comic series exploring even more character origin angles... :|

Baron Samedi was and is still very cool. I do wish the Abbettors organization hadn’t also been wiped out seemingly for good as well. They all made for some good supporting cast. Hope we get more regular ongoing Shadowman again soon. :hope:

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Samedi is a good villain and across these issues he's been portrayed well. The twist with the Brethren taking control of Copeland was a great idea. The whole thing is well written.

Shadowman as a character is now pretty well rectified. I hope we got more of him soon.

One question, though. When Jack hands Samedi the ring, he's says Sandria and Nicodemo are trapped inside. I thought he was trapped in his bones, no? We didn't see him in Ringside. Perhaps I missed something in a panel.

Just read this. Very well done. Fun fight, good conclusion. Nice wrap up but leaves stuff open for the character. I just wish it wasn't ending. Diggle frankly did the best shadowman series yet from VEI.

9/10

I finally got around to reading this and love the new direction of Jack. Finally feels like the character is ready to be what we were all hoping for since 2012. On the flip side, it's such a shame to see this series end now..

I read 8-11 in a single sitting and whilst the arc didn't add much to the lore/continuity it had some very good moments including Baron Samedi, and the direction of Jack. Loads more potential to build from.

:hope: it doesn't take Valiant too long to publish more Shadowman books...
