It's a tough one because the potential is there. I want it to be good and we all know Fred Van Lente is a tremendous storyteller. I guess we will have to see.

So far it looks like it will suck. I like B. Clay Moore from Savage but something about this looks very questionable and lackluster.

So I gave the first issue a read and the word that sums it up best for me is annoying.

I instantly hate all the characters, unless they all die in the second issue this one looks like a dud.

I also just seen the July solicits with Killers #1...I think I'm on point there too, I will be very surprised if it turns out to be good.

Is he though? :? He has some good concepts but the delivery is consistently goofy/poor/throwaway. With the exception of LOTG I don’t know why he’s rated so highly by some fans? A&A wasn’t that good, Timewalker mediocre, War Mother mediocre, Generation Zero poor. Doesn’t sound like this book is what we’d hoped for. I’ll still check it out but my expectations are on the DL!

Is a "statement" being made with the misspelling of "Psi-Lords", or does this need to be corrected?

Can we stop with the myth that FVL is some sort of great writer :? This was pretty ‘meh’, we’ve got Wolverine + Cyclops + Green Lantern + some other guy ...sooo not great from an originality of powers perspective. Odd how they were able to use the powers with such expertise straight off the bat?

Following on from Secret Weapons, is this Valiant’s template for team books now? White character, black character, Chinese character and a fourth one? Either it’s a weird coincidence or there’s a specific diversity agenda in play? :?

It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great either, hoping next issue improves.

3/5

Great ‘cast, gents. Laughed out loud quite a few times. Good job hosting, T.

Have to agree with Jesse/Chris on the art. I need all this alien stuff spelled out with cleaner art. Characters look great at least. The review watermark certainly doesn’t help but not knowing what I’m looking at isn’t a fun way to go through a book at all.

Pretty meh beyond that

I don't really like Van Lente either.

I really really love Van Lente's A&A, Ivar and LotG. I don't hate GEN 0 but will admit that the direction was entirely wrong and ill-suited for the characters. Did not care for WAR-MOTHER at all. It came out of nowhere, had nothing to do with the 4001AD event and just seems totally random and childish with the talking gun. It was 4 issues of nothing. Compared to say SAVAGE which in four issues was gripping, exhilarating and ties in with the Valiant universe.

PSI-LORDS looks awful. Everything about it looks crummy, uninspired, lame and juvenile. So they're saying this is going to 12 issues but Shadowman was cancelled early? Why? They keep pushing all this random crap like WAR-MONGER and KILLERS but we can't get 4 more measly issues of SAVAGE? Why?

Yeah there’s too many bizarre business decisions, given the measly amount of books it makes zero sense to keep churning out average books!

If this book didn't have the Valiant logo on it no one would buy it.

Yes, I only buy 50% of the books out of loyalty to Valiant. I’m not buying Dr Mirage though as these poor decisions are wearing thin, might pick it up on comixology sale down the line.

Why are you so focused on race? Is it really that surprising that if four people were plucked randomly from the world, this would be the breakdown? I'd put good money on one being Asian and another being from the Indian sub-continent, since that's half the world's population.

Also, I don't recall Owen Cho's heritage ever being mentioned (I just did a re-read of Secret Weapons this past week). Cho is a Korean surname, not Chinese.

I wasn't thrilled with issue #1, but Van Lente's work on A&A is one of my favorite comic runs ever, so I'll stick around for whatever is to come.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Why do you constantly miss the point I’m making and read your own narrative into the things? I’m pointing out what looks like political agenda writing which seems to becoming pervasive in comics right now. I object to the company or writers or editors trying to influence readers politically by having political agendas in the books , which, *sometimes* seems the case. Valiant’s only goal should be to make the best books for the readers and not a) choosing average writers the editors agree with politically or b) preaching to the reader.
