I'm enjoying the story, art & scenario/setting of this series so far, but I really can't stand any of the characters. The dialogue is not very distinguishing as they all seem to talk in the same jokey-sarcastic manner.

Dull and a chore to read. We also learn that no matter which part of the world you come from you have the same quippy way of talking, Russian, China, doesn’t matter! Also in the first 3 issues people seem overly keen on using the expression “wait, what!” an awful lot.

When the alien said his ‘mate’ had been killed, did he mean his pal/buddy or his ‘significant other’?

As the guys said on the VCR podcast the writing and art style don’t match up. I seem to remember Guedes has 2 art styles, this computer style one and a more traditional style of art. I prefer his traditional style art but perhaps this way is quicker?

I’ve already order issue 4 in advance but once that’s over with I’m going to ‘peace out’ on this garbage of a series.

1.5/5

The art and dialogue don't seem to be working off the same plot. They don't connect in any way and make the book confusing. That doesn't really matter too much since this story and dialogue is absolute garbage. It's like FVL or an editor randomly decided to stick phrases like "locally sourced "and "gaslight" in out of pre-arranged obligation to use them.
"If you think any of these [older comics/shows/movies] do not carry a political content and is not using the medium of science fiction to explore real-world ideas, than you have not been paying attention." - Dan Abnett, VCR #246

“Gaslighting” would have been new and hip in the fall of 2016 when the term (briefly) trended on social media.

It has faded significantly from mainstream use since then, which makes FVL and Valiant late to the party.

Tank and Co. could have also stated that the saw a dank meme on the My Space which is making them fiend for some sweet Sriracha portobello sushi.

Make sure that this story is extra cringeworthy and three steps behind the current trends.

This is what got me. “Locally sourced”? You’re stranded on a friggin plant spaceship in the middle of space! It’s the only damn edible thing there! I guess you save some of the low gravity ozone layer by NOT having food shipped from the other side of the SHIP! Smh

Maybe they are the same person and thoes are different aspects. They could be in a dream scape being tested to see how criminally insane the person is.
