Wish it hadn't been 90% flashback, but still an enjoyable story.

Listened to the podcast on the drive to work this morning:
While I did enjoy the book, I agree that character moments were distractingly off.
That said, I do think the focus on the tv show angles and aspects has more to do with the big story and what's going on (Who is directing?) than it is about Shan herself. And I'm hoping that plays into Amy's hopes for where the story goes as the director builds up to Shan's revelations about herself and Hwen.

Just read this issue - I thought it was fairly enjoyable! An improvement on the first issue, I particularly liked the flashback segment with the Cult Of Isis.
There were a few head-scratching moments with a couple of the one-liners tossed out, but I did enjoy the scenario as it played out. I like these elements of Dr Mirage where they travel the world and seek out some of the ancient magical mysteries of the Valiant U.
So it appears that this story is kind of a reverse-rescue - as opposed to being just another repetitious story about Shan entering the deadside to find/save Hwen, it is *her* who is already trapped there. I appreciate the angle of telling this story in a non-linear manner in order to create that twist, but... It’s still a bit of a re-hash plot with a twist.
Kudos for being a more entertaining read regardless, this issue.

It was ok. I like Shan, but I’m not sure if I like the story this new writer is trying to tell. Plot wise. Three more issues to go so, will see...
