Rai #7 Discussion

Post by Sunlight on Snow »

Mind-blown. This series is only getting better and better.

First and foremost, I love Lula embracing her role as (the new) Spylocke. Her trip through Ray Self's data stream is so cool especially visually. And finally arriving and seeing "headless" Bloodshot. Perfect! It's really good that we're getting 2 completely different stories right now and the back and forth between the two makes this such a wonderful issue. Last issue, I didn't even recognize the woman as one of the survivors from Hope Springs. Another plus point right there. The dialogue between Rai, Raijin, and her is very well done, too. Finally, the horde of Kor'tunga hybrids obsessed by something called the Dark is eradicated by a free-floating swarm of nanotech (from New Japan, which had been built by Livewire energy). Quite honestly, it's a pity we didn't get to see the swarm in action (yet). All in all, a perfect issue?!?

Has anyone noticed the index pages are constantly giving small hints to what's going to happen next but in this issue it really spoils the nanite swarm? However, it worked very well as I was actually a little worried about Lula in the data stream especially when the hunter sharks show up....and then Rai & Co. leave the hatch and it's obvious the devastation is the result of the "nanite swarm".

Why can't every Valiant book be like this?

Kudos again to Dan Abnett and JJ Ryp!

5/5

ps. This is officially the first book without Meyers' name in it and it's a pretty darn good one. :P

Rai is the only light shining right now, and it's a bright one. I got the Pre-Order version with the Don Perlin cover.

Let's hope #10 won't be the final Rai issue from Dan Abnett!

The solicitation sounds like it could be, unfortunately.

Only just received my copies of #7 and #8.

Great issue, agree with the posts above. Abnett and Ryp continue to bring a shining light in this dark hour!
