An Indie comic produced by board members

Post by grendeljd »

Hey all,

At long last I can reveal a comic project that I've been working on with fellow (& longtime) board member Dellamorte. Lots of you guys know him for his board projects around here over the years, or his Playing God valiant comic posted elsewhere. Others may also know him from a comic he wrote & produced called Man Of God.

He is now working towards putting out an anthology comic of short horror stories, in the tradition of House Of Mystery or Tales From The Crypt.

I drew an 8 page story for him for the book, entitled Things That Go Bump In The Day. I'll start sharing some preview pages here when I get some time to do it. More to come!

Here is page 1 - just testing if it looks right posting via Tapatalk.

Also note, this is probably my least favourite of the 8 pages I drew - the best is yet to come!

Thanks very much, guys! I'll let you all know here how to get this thing once it fully takes shape. We're just getting the lettering done on this short story at the moment, and I know there are a couple of other stories in various states of completion as well.

These are really awesome! What are the chances that I could get some high-res scans and give a shot at coloring them?

It must have taken immense discipline on your part to say that about something produced by a Canadian. I'm flattered! :P  :high-five:

Thanks! I'm doing some art for an indie band's album cover, but I can't really show that stuff just yet.

While there are others plans for publishing this as part of an anthology book eventually, we decided to submit it as a short story to a comic book competition being held by Ghost City Comics;

Finalists are announced on September 1st. Wish us luck!

Well, we didn't place in the top ten finalists for the short story category. There was some pretty stiff competition overall, so while I'm a bit bummed about it, I can understand not making the final cut.

However, fellow board member & Valiant cover artist missjay (Jay Fabares) did win runner up in the single full issue category for her indie book, The Pale!!

She & Sanders also won for best writers!!!

I just saw this thread for the first time.

JD-bud, Valiant would be wise to give you a chance at a short story for starters. You turned some amazing stuff here.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!!!

Many congrats, Josh, i'm super happy for you. :high-five: :thumb:
