For a second I thought you guys were discussing Trump's daily routine with members of the Associated Press, but now I see you're upset that someone else is following his example with Antarctic Press. Seems insignificant by comparison somehow. :kidaround:

Carry on.
Ninja please. Trump doesn't talk to the Associated Press directly. What kind of peasant do you think he is?

One who can't ever seem to get around to building a wall, that's what kind.

How so? Which part was illegal, calling AP, bragging about it online or the fact that he lied about what happened when he called?
Tortious interference, there's even a lawyer who reviewed the case and Waid is pretty screwed.

First of all, kudos for making it a whole page without bringing up politics!

I'm a big fan of D&C and the whole comicsgate movement (god I feel like a d**che actually using that word in a sentence), and I find all of this fascinating. I'm so happy that Jawbreakers is doing well and I hope Mark Waid loses some money because of all the crap he's pulled.

I know I'm about a month late for the conversation, but literally none of this happened.
He also spewed a ton of crap online about a bunch of creators, none deserving the stuff he said. That's the type of person he is. I am not going to do anything to dissway anyone from reading his book, but I can tell you this, my decision is super easy about whether my stores will carry it.
Why didn't they deserve his "spewed crap?" They're *SQUEE* writers that either a) write *SQUEE* books, or b) are way too focused on identity politics than actual storytelling.

yes, no store has been affected really. That whole break in seems more of a coincidence than anything

No good pro who writes good books and is nice to costumers has been roasted. And yes, a lot of them are too focused on identity politics or random political ideologies while insulting costumers. Example: Didn't maggs (who always gets jobs now a days despite trash books, horrible sales and bad behavior) was given Transformers vs Visionaries and complained about it cause she wanted to write about socialism or some crap and wrote one of the biggest borefests ever if that was her best books sadly?

On the topic of politics -

Right wingers will either have to get used to their favourite artists and entertainers (be it actors, writers, singers, etc.) disagreeing with them politically or just stop consuming entertainment by not watching tv and movies, not reading most books and comics, not listening to pretty much anything but red dirt country and talk radio. Even Fox News is selling out to these liberals since the kids took over. The greater degree of access we have to all these creators and actors just highlights it even further, with social media highlighting it the most. You have to separate the creator and the creation. Does it diminish my appreciation for his 90s Silver Surfer run when I see Ron Marz saying horrible things about Donald Trump, the President that I voted for, on Twitter? No. Did it make me like Star Trek the Next Generation any less when I saw the actresses that portray Counselor Troi and Doctor Crusher argue about who loves Obama more at a panel at a convention? No. Will it make me like literally every single thing that Gail Simone or Matt Wagner or Joshua Dysart has ever written any less to know how they feel about marriage equality or gun-grabbing? No.

I am hard right-wing. I am a firearm salesman for my day job and am spending a lazy Sunday morning getting ready to teach Sunday School at a Southern Baptist Church. I keep copies of the Constitution and Bible in my desk at work - I don't have extra Constitutions to give out but I do keep a couple of extra Bibles handy to give out should somebody want one. I even have an RVR Spanish Bible at work. I was a Libertarian (capital L, partisan member of the Libertarian party) and ran for state house as a Libertarian in 2010 but had to split with the party when it got taken over by a bunch of legalize-it-pothead-hippies in 2016 and decided to run Gary Johnson (who advocates a Universal Basic Income) and Bill Weld (gun grabber) for President and VP respectively. As I get older, I find myself migrating from somewhere near the border between libertarian and conservative to a more traditional conservatism and would probably be best described today as a Paleo-conservative.

If you can't take the challenge to your political philosophy, if your grasp on these thoughts is so fragile than it can be challenged in 280 characters or less by some guy that played that one guy on that one movie, then maybe you are best served not participating in social media. That is how you take their power away - get off Twitter and Facebook.

1) "comicsgate" is filled with people with different political views and accept each other cause we love comics and are just tired of having the same far left propaganda on them with creators that don't respect the costumers (mostly on Marvel). We don't care about who voted for who or what do they believe in, we are all nerds who love the medium that is getting really affected by it.

2) Don't assume I'm ring winger

3) I agree with you on the rest but this far left crazies do the opposite of what you are suggesting. If you don't agree with them, they will tell you straight up to not buy their stuff and insult you. Example, Ron Marz goes out to insult comic fans who like richard meyer and he even muted me for asking him to respect other people's work that haven't even come out yet (calling jawbreakers a crap comic) when i have done the same to him. Despite his behavior i bought his current Ominous Press stuff (They are very meh) despite not agreeing with him. And he seems very proud like many of this creators of their blocking. I'm not joking look it up, they love them blocking fans.

4) There's plenty of other creators who don't go out to behave like this with the fans who still make solid books, most of the people we criticize tend to create below average to garbage books and yes, a lot of them didn't get major jobs in comics on merit. I still buy 15 something books of different genres a month so it's not like I'm losing anything by not reading their stuff. Actually I have found even more books in the last year from the smaller publishers thanks to Marvel not wanting my money.

I don't agree with DnC's opinion about valiant, but i still like his vids, he's only reviewed like 3 valiant books which mostly involve faith. And yes people have told him that he should probably try ninjak, x-o and others. It's not like he's taking jabs at them all the time or anything.

Not even close dude and like i said, comicsgate is very diverse in the political spectrum. most comic pros who are accused of been sjws and called out for the behavior overall tend to refer all of us as alt-right white supremacists (nazis, bigots, etc) when they can't win an argument or just to people who aren't like them. And they keep claiming this on social media so anyone outside of the argument can assume that.

I'm curious if this is gonna be a one-and-done thing or if this is going to lead to more books from this creative team. Can this lead to a sustained industry change or is it just a reaction to disliking what Marvel and company were doing? Because this "SJWs are ruining comics" attitude is very similar to Anita Sarkeesian's "sexism is ruining video games" attitude.
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

1) The creator said that yes, he wants to do more stories which some are prequels, solo minis, etc. I believe that he's also working on "Book 3", he's also working on another book called "Iron Sights" which is a bit more realistic from what I've seen, but he also has another books planned like an anthology of sci-fi stories he has talked about before. I'm excited for "RegimenT" which is about a very tough training regiment that allows people to gain superpowers in the course of a year.

2) He wants to kick start change in the industry by making his own little publisher to show the big guys that people want change. Don't know if it's going to work since we live in a era where terrible writers who spend most of their time writing garbage books with their identity politics and such as well as insult the fans keep getting gigs despite horrible sales and keep getting cancelled

3) Well to be honest, most far leftists in both video game and comic industries always make the same claims that trolls, haters, sexist white supremacists are harassing them and don't want women at all as means to defend themselves when they have no argument.

Dude, no one has a problem with left-leaning people writing comics. I don't think many people even have a problem with liberal messages cropping up in comics.

The problem is that it's so obvious and it's f***ing rampant. Marvel is literally infested with this crap. You brought up the example of Dysart, which perfectly exemplifies the problem. Was Harbinger left-leaning? Maybe a few characters, yea. Did it have liberal messages? Sure, but Dysart did it right. It came out of character naturally. He wasn't trying to force Harada into the middle of a Trump metaphor.

Most of them have roasted Faith (usually deservedly so), but as much as I enjoy the guy's videos, D&C's stance on Valiant drives me up the wall. He read 3 random issues of Faith, and Eternity #1 and officially gave up on Valiant. It sucks because Valiant has actually been really good about not forcing sjw politics into their comics, but D&C sees it once and paints the whole company with the same brush.

That said, I'm over it. As unfortunate as it is that he's not giving Valiant the platform it deserved, I think he's generally a good thing for the industry.

New labels I learned about in this thread that I like: PaleoConservative and Ring Winger.

The latter I’m trying to figure out how to use properly, but I’ll get there.

The second one is used very inconsitently.

So anyone who still hasn't backed this project you still can and here's some few announcements.

Meyer's "Iron Sights" graphic novel he's been working with Mr. Canales (i just follow him on twitter don't know his full name) will be the next project he wants to get funded by next month and the book is finished according to the two.

Chuck Dixon is going to work on a Jawbreakers Devil Dog mini-series (the red masked guy). That is freaking crazy.

Besides working on that sci-fi anthology he is also trying to get Jim Shooter (he's been trying to contact him) to work on a origin story for Kuffz and Knifehand (pretty much his Power man and Iron fist characters of the team). Would be cool if something like that happened but it might not happen.

I wish Shooter would get back into creating something.

I would like to see him to get the Defiant universe back or even Broadway. While neither was quite to Valiant level, I think there were enough good ideas to work with in either of those universes.

He doesn’t own those anymore, either, though. Pretty sure they were purchased at some point. Maybe even by Random House.

Yeah. I've never been clear about who owns them but I know it's not Shooter. It's just wishful thinking on my part. :)
