What series or runs haven't you read that you want to

Post by caxiotis »

I was thinking about this the other day. I have purchased and read most stuff I have been interested in, but there are still a lot of runs/series I really want to read but haven't yet. Which runs/series do you want to read, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Top five only.

My top five currently are (not in any order):

Bone
Millers run on daredevil
Bendis's run on daredevil
Planetary
Hellboy/bprd
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics

Millers run on daredevil - Great Run!
Bendis's run on daredevil - Great Run! He's much better at writing crime fiction/down to earth characters than big ticket superheroes
Planetary - Might be my all time favorite
Hellboy/bprd

I'm currently (& finally!) reading Sandman (on VOL. 4)
Alan Moore's Swamp Thing - have the issues just need to make time to read 'em.
Also need to finish Miracleman - about halfway thru the series.
Locke & Key - have the first 4 volumes, need to check 'em out.
Hellspawn - Bendis writing/Wood art/Miracleman connection - wasn't too hard to buy the 16 issues now again, just need time to read it.

Skip through the first ten or so issues. Painful. Really.

I'm looking forward to two things.

Avengers early seventies-ish. Yummy.

I've also picked up V for Vendetta. Seen the film about ten times - but never wrestled through the book.

I love Elfquest. You can read all of the issues for free Richard and Wendy Pini's "elfquest website" (http://www.elfquest.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Elfquest is one of my favorites (at least until the Pini's stopped doing all of the writing).

Start like this:
Elfquest (Warp Graphics) #1-21 (My all time favorite)
ElfQuest Siege at Blue Mountain (Warp Graphics)
Elfquest Kings of a Broken Wheel
(There are also Marvel reprints of most of this)

These series' came out next at almost the same time
Elfquest: The Hidden Years
Elfquest: New Blood

Somewhere neat the end of Hidden Years and new Blood was this series:
Elfquest: Shards

Some Elfquest Future series came out while Hidden Years and New Blood were going on (I never read these)
Elfquest: the rebels
Elfquest: Jink

A bunch of Mini-Series and one-shots happened at various times (not sure of order and list not complete)
Elfquest: Kahvi mini-series
ElfQuest: Two Spear mini-series
Elfquest: Metamorphisi )one-shot)
Elfquest: Wavedancer mini-seriesetc.
Elfquest: Wave Dancer (one-shot)
etc

Anyway, I can keep going. Check out the Elfquest website for a timeline of issues.
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics

This is gonna be my next big reading project after I finish reading the Alan Moore Swamp Thing run. I've only got 4 issues left to go with Swamp Thing, so I'm looking forward to hitting up Animal Man. Everyone talks about Morrison's run on the book, but I've also heard quite a bit of good stuff about some of the other runs, like Milligan's and Delano's issues.

Morrison's run was one of my favorites ever, but I've never read past it. How much are you enjoying the swamp thing? Another one of my favorite runs. Also another one I'd like to read through til the end (the series I mean, not just Moore's run).

The bar that every DD writer is compared to. Miller's run is the one that put DD on the map.

Very, very cool

I'm not sure there's a better short, ongoing series that has ever been published. Although it only lasted 27 issues, it was extremely amazing. The writing and art was nothing short of phenomenal.
