First Comics-Issue List

Post by JohnnyRnR »

Obviously we didn't have enough crap to look for. It doesn't look TOO bad, except that there are quite a few S/N HC's, and 17 million printings of the TMNT trades. Also, there were a few sporadic signed issues listed that didn't give me the impression that they were issued by the company, but Zero Tolerance had signed issues listed for the entire series. Could be a fun one, most of the long running series are actually worth reading, and I've been wanting to check out those Oz books for a while.

From MileHighPrices, we've got:
GN's
American Flagg Hard Times (GN) (apparently in a S/N HC, and a softbound)
American Flagg Southern Comfort (GN) (apparently in regular HC, S/N HC, and softcover)
American Flagg State of the Union (GN/TPB?) (also in HC, S/N, HC, and paperback)
Badger: Hexbreaker (GN)
Beowulf (GN) (also 2nd print)
Demon Knight: A Grimjack Graphic Novel
Elric of Melnibone (GN) (regular, and S/N HC)
Elric: The Sailor on the Seas of Fate (GN) (regular and S/N HC)
Elric: Weird of the White Wolf (GN) (regular and S/N HC)
Enchanted Apples of Oz (GN)
Forgotten Forest of Oz (GN)
Hawkmoon: Jewel in the Skull (GN)
The Ice King of Oz (GN) (also 2nd print)
John Sable Freelance (TPB)
Lone Wolf and Cub (TPB)
Mazinger: Go Nagai (GN)
Next Nexus (TPB)
The Original Nexus (TPB/GN?) (3 printings)
The Secret Island of Oz (GN) (2 printings)
Shatter: The Revolutionary Graphic Novel
Team Yankee (GN)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Books I (11 printings!?!), II(9 printings), III (8 printings), IV(7 printings)
Time Beavers (WTF?) (TPB/GN?)
Time2: The Epiphany
Time2: The Satisfaction of Black Mariah

Floppies
Alter Ego 1-4
American Flagg! 1-50, Special 1, Howard Chaykin's American Flagg! 1-12
Badger 1-70, Badger Bedlam 1, Badger Goes Berserk 1-4
Beauty and the Beast: Night of Beauty
Beauty and the Beast: Portrait of Love (also 2nd print)
Betty Boop's Big Break
Chronicles of Corum 1-12
Classics Illustrated 1-27
Classics Illustrated: Treasure Island (looks like a Long John Silver's promo)
Corum: The Bull and the Spear 1-4
Crossroads 1-5 (2nd print on 1)
Dreadstar 27-64
Dynamo Joe 1-15, Special 1
E-Man 1-25 Original E-Man 1-7
Elric: THe Bane of the Black Sword 1-6
Elric: The Sailor on the Seas of Fate 1-7
Elric: The Vanishing Tower 1-6
Elric: Weird of the White Wolf 1-5
Evangeline 1-12
First Adventures 1-5
First Six-Pack 1-2
Ghostbusters (Filmation's) 1-6
The Gift, A First Publishing Holiday Special
Grimjack 1-81 Grimjack's Casefiles 1-5
Hammer of GOd 1-4
Hammer of God: Sword of Justice 1-2
Hawkmoon: Jewel in the Skull 1-4
Hawkmoon: The Mad God's Amulet 1-4
Hawkmoon: THe Runestaff 1-4
Hawkmoon: The Sword of Dawn 1-4
John Sable Freelance 1-56 Mike Grell's Sable 1-10 Sable Return of the Hunter 1-27
Lone Wolf and Cub 1-45 (4 printings of 1, 2 printings of 2)
Mars 1-12
Meta 4 1-4 (possibly a variant on 1)
Munden's Bar Annual 1-2
Next Nexus 1-4
Nexus 1-80
Nexus Legends 1-23
PI's Michael Mauser and Ms. Tree 1-3
Psychoblast 1-9
Sensei 1-4
Shatter 1-14 Shatter Special 1 (2 printings)
Squalor 1-4
Starslayer 7-34
Team Yankee 1-6
Twilight Man 1-4
Warp 1-19 Special 1-3
Whisper 1-37 Special 1
Zero Tolerance 1-4

If you change the title, does it get to go with the others?

It was #10. The stories were good in the Starslayers in the beginning but I felt they got weaker in the later issues. The best issues were#1-6.

I felt, Starslayer always had awesome back up stories. The 1st Rocketeer came out in #2 & #5 had the 2nd appearance of Groo. #10 started Grimjack, & The Black Flame was another back up.

There's a surprisingly high ratio of stuff I know I like or am interested to stuff I've never heard of from First. I've been casually picking up Grimjacks and Flaggs for a while now, maybe I'll try a little harder.

If anyone has spares of the TMNT reprints, please PM me. I bought these when they were released, before I was buying monthly issues of anything, and they had a huge impact on me.

Long story short, I read and re-read these constantly until I went to college; parents moved during my undergrad years and I haven't seen them since. You'd think that it would be easy to find all four of these for cheap (since they were reprinted so often), but any I've come across are either beat to *SQUEE* or way out of reasonable price range.

These four books cover the first 11 (or 12?) issues of the original series, which was black and white. I don't remember the artists, but the coloring is actually really good on the FIRST books.

To add 'insult to injury', last summer I found a vendor on Amazon who was selling the original MIRAGE tpb that collected all these issues for $15 (cover price I think!), when I attempted to purchase this book he informed me that the price had gone up to $50 (ebay price?). Needless to say I was no longer interested.

I hear that MIRAGE is eventually going to reprint the entire first run of TMNT, but that they are adding grey tones and removing any Cerebus appearances from the early issues, so there is no ETA on them...

thanks,
.wil.

Okay, had to put my (meager) money where my mouth is and start trying to throw a universe together! I'll probably have to upgrade a few of these once I see them, but for what I paid, I won't be able to complain.

After my package(s?) arrive, I'll need:
American Flagg-All but 1

Badger-1-5, 7-16, 18, 22-25, 27-29, 31, 32, 34, 39, 46, 47, 59-61, 63, 65, 66, 68-70, Badger Bedlam 1

Original E-Man 1

Grimjack 14, 20-22, 24, 30, 34-37, 45, 46, 48-50, 52-56, 61, 62, 64, 67-70, 72, 73, 75, 77, Casefiles 3, 4

John Sable Freelance 3-6, 48, Mike Grells' Sable 1, Sable Return of the Hunter 8-16, 18-21, 24, 25

Nexus 1-6, 8, 14-16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 45-48, 50, 71, 73-77, Nexus Legends 1, 2, 6, 15, 16, 19-21, 23

Starslayer 7, 8, 12

Warp 5

Whisper 11, 12

I'll actually need many other books but I thought I'd only list the titles I had part of for now. From what I've spent so far, the Grimjacks and Whispers go for around 0.60 a pop, Badger around 0.50 each, everything else (even Nexus?!) went for next to nothing. The Elric and Corum books seem to go for about 1.50 each though (I got outbid). I'm hoping to pay ballpark of $0.50 a book plus shipping, in VF or better if anyone sees anything. More for the Elric or Corums. And if you see any of the S/N hardcovers, let me know how much.

In this section, there is ALWAYS something to chase down huh ?

Does anyone have a 100% complete collection of any DU ? I thought that I had Defiant and Broadway nailed down... yeah, I 'thought'.
