The only problem I have when I re-read those Genesis books is the Genesis crossover itself, making it harder to read one title straight through as a run.

Agreed on the covers being far superior to the interiors BTW, but I just felt that derenick improved as the series wore on.

Knightt wrote:...Same goes for Justice Machine ... another set of re-tooled characters. CANT WAIT to delve into Justice Machine. Justice Machine though... just looks like action, action, action. And for them to go through 3-4 flag carriers, there must be 'something' going on.

GREAT, now I have a nostalgia kick going on.... thanks Leon !!!! hehehe thats what makes the comic world go around. Dontcha love it ?
I bought a chunk of the Comico Justice Machines last year (1-22 and a handful of the other issues, trying to track down the remainder, as well as the Elementals/JM mini). Really enjoyed the characters and stories (although I have only read to 20 as I type this). I think I will probably track down the later volumes that are considered of the same canon. I do wonder why Gustovich seemed to give away his 'baby' though.

PS - your Dead Universes section inspires me Knightt, so you have to blame yourself! Good work, man. And thanks to Greg for agreeing it.

Thank you VERY much for that comment, Leon. I really do not think that I add anything to this website at all and this comment just made my week. Thank you VERY much.

This has really made my week.

And yes, Greg... that you for agreeing to it.

The issue lists, the insight into military thinking and life, the cool anecdotes when the family life is going well. Dude, you add a lot. There are like probably 20 to 30 or more guys on this board who, if ever chance permits, I would love to meet just based on the informative debate, shared enthusiasm for a medium (and a particular publisher - and therefore creators - in that medium), general nonsense/horsing around that i get to share in. I may not agree with everyone all of the time, but that as I have said in the past is cool. Everyone brings something ( alittle of themselves) to the board and that to me is very cool. This place isn't about hate, although there may be some reserved for deserving causes, but rather the cool things I mentioned earlier. The DU section is a fantastic extension of what is a DU site. :thumb:

Ahh The Protectors... there is a title that you can really sink you teeth into. Annoying fact though: Direct edition books had GREAT covers while newsstand editions had some crappy covers. Too bad the interior art was more along the crappy side than the direct edition covers.

I think I mostly have the direct editions (including the dread laser beam die-cut...), but not all. Which means I have to get them all of course. But then I won't have a complete set of newstands so I best get all of them as well...

I have just started re-reading (for the third time, no less) the Protectors books. I am not going to re-read the Ex-Mutants or DfH books that link in though, just the main book, the one shots and spin-offs and Genesis. :thumb:

I just want to bump these again because I think that they are WAY cool:

Image

A Red Foil #1 variant edition.

Image

Orange Cover ashcan (mine signed by Walter Koenig)

I will get better scans of these in a bit. (Koenig's signature stands out MUCH better) They were taken from the auction I won a while back and they really do not do the books justice. Just finding the Dead Clown red foil variant was cool enough for me but then finding the Raver ashcan WITH Walter Koenig's signature on it.... wow.

Anyone collect any of the other promos or "merch"? I have several posters and a series of Malibu Genesis pins. Anyone else have "stuff" besides the books (and OA. I have some interiors, but not many).

BoH

I FINALLY picked up The Ferrett w/ green foil cover today... for a mere $.10 cents. It has a sig on it but I still feel better knocking this one off the list. I'll post a scan tomorrow.

Mines bigger than yours :( (May be the only time in the history of mankind that this isn't such a good thing). Don't know if this has been brought up before Knightt but I've got 2 Gravestones (1 has a UPC in lower left corner and the other has a picture of The Protectors) Not really a variant because other than the UPC the cover looks the same

Malibu (Genesis)
Airman 1
Dead Clown 1, 2, 3
Dead Clown Red Foil #1 variant)
Dinosaurs for Hire 2, 3, 7, 8(PB & DE), 9, 10, 11, 12
Dinosaurs for Hire Ashcan nn
Dinosaurs for Hire: Guns 'n Lizards (TPB) nn
Dinosaurs for Hire: Dinosaurs Rule (TPB) nn
Ex-Mutants 1(Plat Ed.) , 18
Ferret(Vol 1)#1
Ferret (Vol 2) 1( Green Foil), 4, 5(DE ) 9
Genesis 0 ( Red Foil)
Genesis Ashcan 0
Gravestone 2, 3(PB & DE)
Man of War 3(NS), 5(DE), 6(DE)

I don't believe that Gravestone #8 exists(Not in The Overstreet Guide anyways, not that that means anything) and I've never seen it (Not that that means anything either  )

I do not consider these 'variants' either and therefore do not collect them. If I have a UPC of a pic, either one is good for me and counts but I 'prefer' to have a pic.

With the pic/UPC isn't that simply down to newstand and direct market distribution?
