Interesting to know there's a DMC HD Collection out for the PS4. I'm guessing it's all games so far in the series? I remember playing a demo or two of it back in the day and being somewhat interested in it, but not enough that I ever grabbed a game in the series.

I'm a big God of War (Pre-PS4 series) fan though: do you think it'd satisfy someone into GoW if they gave it a chance?
Devil May Cry HD on the PS4 is the same release from the PS3/Xbox 360 release so its the first three games only. 4 did get a special edition remaster that’s download only as as separate purchase.

As for a GoW fan approach, I don’t really know. I’m only on the first game and that one doesn’t play smooth at all compared to the OG God Of War. I know they eventually get combo heavy and the game scores you on the damage you dealt and took. If I can wrap the other 2 I can maybe give a better opinion.
Now you mention it I think it was the slower pace and klunkiness of the combat that originally convinced me that I was better off sticking with GoW, so yeah, let me know about the sequels once you've given 'em a bash and let me know how they compare :high-five:
I can now honestly answer you about Devil May Cry as a whole. If your wanting something along the lines of the OG God of War, just skip it, the story and even gameplay aren't really close. If you really want to play a Devil May Cry. The 3rd one is probably the only one worth doing as the story and gameplay is a touch more fun and fleshed out. Hell it had probably the single best Joker riff I've ever seen.

Next up for me, Uncharted 4 and checking out this thing called Auto Chess.

I finished Link Between Worlds and loved every minute. First Zelda game I completed 100% without having to look anything up in a guide.

I also recently finished the main story of Alien: Isolation. That was one of my favorite games of all time. Totally captured the feel of the original movie. I read that it has been blessed as canon to the franchise by 20th Century Fox.

I'm currently cleaning up trophies and trying to get the Platinum trophy, then I'm going to play the DLC that has you play as the crew of the Nostromo.

Apparently there are rumors of a sequel.

Trying to figure out what my next game will be. Probably will finish up Uncharted 3 with my son.

A few days ago I finished the main story (and the Hearts of Stone DLC) of Witcher 3.
I'm gonna rest up a bit, rl and all that, but I will come back asap to finish both Blood & Wine (although I already met Regis) and the rest of the bloody game. I have this word printed permanently on me brain, bloody hell. :P
Slowly, my english is becoming that of a character in these games.

I really have the 0 words to express how much this game is so bloody good. I think that I came across the "this is the greatest game ever created by man" sentence in my mind a few hours into it.The Bloody Baron quest. That *SQUEE* killed me. I was completely unaware of how good the facial microexpressions have become in gaming, I NEVER expected to be emotional about a scene on a freaking videogame. Dudes, the ritual with the rain pounding hard in the night as a background, the Baron and his baby daughter and f*cking Geralt looking like he's really there, seeing and feeling the pain of the man. Exquisite voice acting, by everyone, but the Baron was out of this world in this game. I think of Witcher 3 and I almost immediately think of the drunk, fat baron sobbing at the rain, lamenting the curses that were thrown at him by... himself. He's as real life as it gets in a medieval fantasy fiction role playing videogame, imho. Terrific moment, and absolutely unforgetable.
But more than drool over this masterpiece, I will only leave a word to anyone interested in getting into the Witcher franchise (lookin at you, jd :D ). Please, read the books first. After I finished the game I finaly went online and got the feel of the people about this franchise. So, so, so many peeps regret not having read the books first. And it is quite obvious why. The third game in particular, while it is equally fun to play and discover the world, well, it can't be helped that book-readers will get a huge kick from stuff that goes over the head of the gamers-only. Like the Menno Coehoorn running joke  or why there's such an emotional weight to the The Last Wish quest. Its an amazing quest by itself, but if you have read the entire series, it will be hard to not feel cheesy sh*t while saying those words to Yen.
Still, the biggest plot point (and on that, I also played the 2 previous games in order, after the readings) is the fact that a huge, huge and I do mean the biggest twist in the Geralt saga is pretty much given knowledge on W3. I'm talking about HUGE SPOILER FOR THE BOOKS and MINOR SPOILERS FOR WITCHER 3 :hm: Ciri being the daughter of Emhyr. You see, in the novels, and until the last book's final chapters you "know" that Ciri's dad is a once-cursed and once-helped by Geralt guy called Duny. A pretty sympathetic secondary character that is supposed to have died a few years before the story. Well, the readers - and Geralt - discover in the final part of the story that Duny is Emhyr, who once was cursed by a usurper and kicked off from Nilfgaard. Something like that. It's super gross to put 2 and 2 together and realise that the dad wants to have kids with his own daughter. Its just messed up and a complete pull of the rug.
In the first hours of W3, you know that Ciri is his daughter, and the name Duny is nowhere to be heard (in my playthrough, so far). Maybe if you forget about the game, you can still be wowed. :P

Its a perfect game to me, its a fantasy rpg (my favourite genre) that surpasses everything I could expect from a "game". Just going for hours saying C'mon, Roach and discover the world is worth the price. I will play this in the years to come, well, until i forget my own name, I think.

I’ve been playing a ton of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, the last few months. I find it rather addictive.

Still playing Witcher 3, now on my second and on NG+ AND Death March. Oh, the *SQUEE* insanity.
I never play Super Hard mode or whatever in any game, but this felt right, actually. Fighting monsters like these should not be something that become super easy after some levels. On Death March, I got destroyed by Drowners early because I was just playing the game like I did before. And the good reviews I read on this mode also helped, of course. And that shiny X Box silver, I want one of those elite style trophies.

I'm doing everything I found "wrong" to do on the firstie, meaning romancing Triss's Bewbs  ) and just being the deadbeat dad that Ciri never thought she had. I want her to be Empress of Milfgaarden, grab some coin from the bad guy and just give Geralt the equivalent of a "she's not the one, but you know, she's in awe of me and we're really close friends... and man, those bewbs" kinda relationship. 8-) facepalm

Also, freaking Gwent. I did not play this almost at all in the first playthrough, now I'm only missing the 4 last from the Passiflora. I went there earlier but the fact that I was knocked out of my *SQUEE* by a stupid half-elf/full sore loser after I beat him on cards, made me realise that it is better to level up before that quest. Guy had a red skull on his health bar, 2 punches and I was out. Death March's fistfights are freaking brutal.
Gwent is addictive and is no surprise the minigame actually became a standalone game AND a serious competitive "sport" a la MTG online.

But I have to say, so far, this has been even better in parts than my previous game. By that, I'm mostly talking about the monster contract's fights; even if you are out-levelling whatever you are fighting, if you don't prepare and actually THINK in a battle, read the bestiaries, all the oils/bombs/potions stuff, you'll be dead in a few hits. There's a sense of actually thinking like a Witcher for a need, instead of just easing the carnage you do after some levels of good ability picking.
But there was a particular fight, I think it has got to be the most intense boss fight I have played in a long time. Took about 10 tries and I only did it in 10/15 minutes.

That f*cking Ice Giant in Skellige, where Hjalmar's bud is trapped.

That guy destroyed me in secs for the first 5 or 6 times, until I gave up and actually leveled up a bit more and - with a bit of sorrow - started using anything other than my Grandmaster Manticore black armor from the beginning of Death March. I did 19 levels with it, but it had to go. Using Legendary Wolven, waiting to get Legendary Manticore of course.
I (we) defeated it after releasing seriouly-complete-loon friend named Vigi, The Loon- I actually laughed out loud when he goes "I'm just gonna kill him first" and then when you are expecting him to drive a sword on the heart of the SLEEPING thing, he kicks it, wakes him up, and just screams at the monster like he's gonna f him up. Most optimistic dude ever.

But then we had to fight this thing. I did not land a single blow, just Pierced him, Northern Wind and Fire. All the while, always checking Quen and running/dodging the guy because you know... it takes one, ONE hit from this dude to off you, if you are careless for a second. Most intense fight so far.
When it was oveR and the 2 dudes start laughing heartily at the deed and at the crazyness of Vigi, I laughed out loud again, this time, the old "I *SQUEE* KILLED A GIANT" sort of laugh, heart still racing. Epic does not define it right, seriously.

I love this mode of the game, even if it can be super punishing in many many situations.
Wolves? GTFO. Seriously, Wolves will kill you more easily than the Wild Hunt.
Bandits? Run, unless you know your surroundings and again, PREPARE a lot. And on that, the first time I got to Novigrad, wearing my fancy armor from previous game, having beaten dozens of monsters, I was killed in one hit by a dude with a mace. Not kidding, there's some sort of bug, that gives mace wielding humans severe Hit power.BOOK SPOILERIt actually fits the story of Geralt, if you have read the books. He dies by peasant with fork. But I haven't fought those *SQUEE* dudes yet, because I don't want to see the load screen again and again.

Just one more little tidbit I experienced.
Oh boy, you know those times in games where the camera and the movement combinations just give you a view of something unforgettable? I still remember the first time I saw a Rancor in KOTOR, just peeking from a corner and when I look BAM there's a Rancor in that place. Gaming Goosebumps.

This thing that happened, well, I think players of the game can understand this way better. No words do justice to what CDPKRT did with some of the creatures here.
So, I was near Oxenfurt, decided to go and check that far off ? that I thought was a Place of Power. I still have no idea what it is, because of what happened.

I was running, Roach free, sunny day and the whole thing, great stroll.
Out of nowhere, the sky goes dark and cloudy, and I notice I am surrounded/about to be chased by what seemed, some 30 wolves. A huge red blot on the map, with me in the middle, I swear they were dozens. Wolves kill you in seconds in DM, like I said, unless you have the patience, and even then.

And then, crows or ravens, clouds of them chasing me, along with wolf army. I start running, but the nerves got the better of me (I could not make a save in the moment of course, and didn't do it in a while, so lots of stuff had to be redone :( ) Camera starts rolling,
fingers did not do what the brain wanted, and IT happens.

I had the camera with Geralt facing me, so I was seeing the pack chasing me, the clouds in the sky and some 50 meters away in the back (in real life, that felt like the distance) the responsible for this scenario, out to kill me- yeah, it was a Leshen. A damn Leshen, sending the entire forest after me. I only saw him in that half second, shat my metaphorical gaming pants and RAN, RAN, RAN. I only stopped when I saw civilization, was actually on auto mode, that mode being running as fast as poor Geralt can run.

Leshen are the coolest monsters in the entire franchise of the games. But I will not see one again out of my own will, until I rule this game on this mode and might stand a chance against what seems impossible, actually.

Weird, that I never had a problem with them before in normal mode, even if underleveled. But Death March is where the stuff like this is even more amazing. One-hit-kill monsters are where this game actually is its best when it comes to combat.

Well, I'm currently the proud owner of both a busted PS3 and PS4, so I'm sadly not playing much at all for the moment.

On another note, if anybody would like to make a donation to PlayStation Hospice Charity UK which helps to get sick and unfortunate playstations back on their feet, please feel free to PM me and I'll send you my Paypal email address details

... and my Witcher 3 NG+ Death March challenge is done. :D :D :D

This was actually becoming easier as i kept playing, save for some particular fights. Boss fights, to be precise. And to be exact, the last 2 of them. Caranthil and Eredin.

I spent at least one hour with each of them, just downright frustrating. Until it wasn't, but honestly, full campaign on this mode, NEVER again. . I will still play the Monster contracts on every future playthrough in DM, but that's it. Died too many times from wolf jump at my throat, club in the head, not to mention the OP stuff in places.

Got the trophy, achievement done, but damn me I I did not considered giving up and lower the difficulty. Glad I did not, but there were some serious rage quitting thoughts. Like I said, I am not a gamer guy, just love some games real hard.

Caranthiltook me a night of sleep and rest and I did it on my first try after it. I had spent a good chunk of time the day before, but it got easier as I started figuring his pattern and got focused. Next day, on a first try "just to get warm", I did it. One of those things. :?

Eredin... *SQUEE* this guy on this mode. Its insane. I too found his fight on normal mode waaaaay easy and fast, and despite the fact that I get why he was such a wuss (he's just a punk elf with some fancy teleporting tricks and scary armor/weapons- BUT HE'S STILL A PUNY ELF. ), he still one-hit killed me, easy. I had to repeat this to myself while this guy made me load a save for an eternity.
One time, I got him to - literally - about half/one third of 1/10 of his health. I swear he should be dead- and then I got nervous for a sec, he offs me in 2 hits. I was a pat on the forehead away from the "most difficult to get" xbox achievement. I almost shed a tear.

Because that's the thing. Eredin got seriously upped on this mode (NG+DM). He does not have a pattern that one can easily get around here, i'm not the only one who thinks this, lots of people experienced this hardcore Eredin mode. A regular DM game is not like this- in NG+ he is a bit OP if one wants to be precise, actually. Dude is a completely different antagonist. This time, yeah, he was getting to my nerves. When I finally offed him, I got the satisfaction of "really" having the fight of my life as Geralt against the King of the Wild Hunt.

Ciri's fight against the Crones... oh, this is hard. Not impossible at all or anything, but patience is the key. You are bringing a potato pealer for a gun fight. This fight was hard on my first play, this time, i only died 2 times, but the fight was about 15 minutes. You get it, if you have played it. And that Vesemir advice - WAIT for an opportunity. I loved how this actually affects you as a player in this place.

The other 2 bosses from the Hunt were easy, Nithral is SUPER easy if you know your "witchering" and let Keira do the job for the most part and Imlerith was actually a joke. I have yet to die one single time in any mode against this dude. Super scary and menacing looking boss, yeah, sure... but he's slow as a snail on Indica with that huge weapon.

I am alreay replaying the expansions (HoS) because I want all of the Gwent cards in the game, facepalm but lowered the difficulty because I am not a masochist and the Toad and the Caretaker-Iris-Nightmare sequence on Death March are for crazy people.

I started Detroit Beyond Human the other day as it's the PSN free game from last month. I'm really enjoying the story. It really interesting.

I'm liking the Kara storyline the most. It's more choose your own adventure type interactive movie like Until Dawn, but I've found this gameplay mechanic is one of my favorites.

The motion controls for remote play are a little wonky and I'm currently stuck until I can play directly on my console because I cannot get one of the motions to fire correctly to progress. Other than that it's been great.

Speaking of Until Dawn, that studio released their next game that has the same mechanics. I'm looking forward to playing it. I'm going to finish Detroit first, then Man of Medan.

So, I'm really enjoying this game. It really wraps you up identifying with the characters you play as and now the story lines are starting to overlap which is causing internal conflict (in myself) because one character is trying to catch another and I don't want that character (my favorite) to be caught. (I ran slow so I wouldn't catch them.)

Games are weird in how they make you identify with the characters you play.

Also, still playing through Detroit: Beyond Human. I really enjoy this game. It's really working as an emotional story driven game.

I will likely give a shot to Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, both of which I have as they were previously PSN Plus free games. Quantic Dreams is the studio behind them all. Heavy Rain always looked cool, but I never got around to it.

I think I might give the remaster a go too. All I can say is that I hope they've fixed the camera coding from the original version: it's really, REALLY janky on the original version. I almost put the game back in the cupboard after I put it in the console when I decided to play it last year, that's how bad the camera is in it. To say that it's not always in a favourable position by default to provide a clear view of the action is an understatement.

On another note: if you know who the kidnapper is in Heavy Rain I don't really think there's much point in playing the game through. I wouldn't give it a second play for that reason alone as it kind of 'plays' more like an interactive film than a game.

I just finished my initial playthrough of Detroit: Become Human. I got two characters I was really attached to killed which was a bummer.

Otherwise, I got the good endings for everyone.

Really enjoy this format. Especially the mechanic that autosaves as you make branching choices and won't let you go back and change things until the playthrough is complete. Until Dawn is still my favorite of this type of game (making a stupid decision in the tutorial screw up a huge portion of the story is genius - and evil).

Can't wait to go back and see where the other decision trees lead as I work toward finishing my platinum trophy.

The beauty of remasters and remakes is that you want to go back and play the originals again.

I have been on an Uncharted trophy hunt. Played through 4 three times in the last three weeks, and Lost Legacy twice in that time. Once for the 3rd game, and now again on crushing, and same for the first game. Currently doing the second on hard, in prep for an eventual crushing run.

That series has some almost impossible Platinum requirements.
It does. I will not worry about the multiplayer requirements for Thief's End or Lost Legacy. I will consider it a plat if I do everything but. I am going to TRY to plat the first 3 (Nathan Drake Collection). Still love the series but *SQUEE* if crushing didn't try to murder my soul during the one play through of 4.

Working through decision trees in Detroit Become Human and, boy, does this game have some depressing endings.

Time for something completely different. Mass Effect Andromeda is on deck.

Also tried Destiny 2 since it went free to play, honestly not bad

Playing through Link's Awakening remake on the Switch. Loved this game on the Gameboy 20 some years ago and the remake is even better. I'm almost at 100% completion. Lots of nostalgic fun.

I've actually torn through quite a few games recently. Current game is Shadow of War the follow up to Shadow of Mordor. It's the ultimate screw around game. Run around kill things, get killed, create unique unit, brainwash unique unit, put it into highest power roll, rinse repeat. If you are a hardcore Middle Earth fan the story is absolutely blasphemy but it's a damn fine time waster.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake which is a damn good game for what is basically a prologue to a larger story. If you're expecting just a 1-1 remake of the original game with new graphics and voice acting then you might want to readjust your expectations going in, you get that but with a lot of new stuff like some much needed characterization for Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge. There is some new characterization of the main cast as well: Cloud is still brooding but he does show some signs that he's got a personality, Barrett sounds like preacher, Tifa has doubts about the tactics that her cell of Avalanche are doing (bombings) and Aries is weird. They also do a GREAT job showing the people of the city of Midgar who are basically trapped in between the war of Shinra and Avalanche. I also like how they present Avalanche here that Barrett runs a cell of the group, a cell that is basically been declared too extreme by the rest of the group. The people running Shinra are basically just evil (except for Reeve) but they aren't stupid, they're actually quite smart and pretty much outwit Barrett at every turn, until Sepiroth. There are over 20 brand new side-quests that actually explores Midgar and some are quite good and some are quite stupid. The controversial cross dressing quest in Wall Market has been reworked into a fun surreal mini-game, that if you're homophobic and/or transphobic you will not like but if you're not it's actually quite challenging, and surreal, funny, and uplifting. The combat can take some getting used too and at times feels way too chaotic but once you get the hang of it, it's so bad. It feels like the original FF7's combat crossed with the first Devil May Cry's combat system. The biggest problem is the damn cutscenes some of them are really great and some of them are really, really, really, long and feel like that they could cut in half and you would still get the point. Also the game is really HUGE in file size wise coming in at close 100 gigs so make sure you have the room for it and if you buy it digitally it might take a while to download. Fortunately the game allows you to pause and skip them if you want to. Taken as stand alone game divorced from the original it would be still be a great game, the ending makes it clear that the story of Final Fantasy VII: Remake will be different than the original and that is a GREAT thing, because I have Final Fantasy VII: Remastered on my Xbox One and if I want to play the original version I can play that and the Remake can go in different directions. So I had fun with it, it's got it's flaws but so does everything. If you want to play the original play the remaster if you want to play a new spin on a classic then play the remake.
