Nintendo DS games..

Post by IanAlexavier »

So the wife and I decided to buy the kids some DS Light's this Christmas. I dont know a lot about DS games, but this is what I DO know:

DSLights play DS and GameBoy Advanced games

Some games are only 1 player
Some games are multiplayer needing only 1 game card to share
Some games are multiplayer but require every player to have a game card

Anything else to know???

What are some good games for a 6 and 8 year old???

Well, you can't ever go wrong with Super Mario :) The 8 year old could probably enjoy "New Super Mario Bros." for the DS. It should be relatively cheap these days :)

There are also a bunch of Disney-themed games out there that are probably well-suited for 6-8 year olds. I think a cool game series you could play with your 8 year old also would be the "Professor Layton" series. It has a cool cartoon style, with animated cut scenes, and the game play is primarily brain teasers and puzzles. So, if your kids are into that kind of thing, I think it would be fun as a game for daddy and child to play together. By themselves, it could be frustrating :)

I have also seen some board games-as-video games multi-game DS titles out there.

Hope that helps :)
