Looking for an old AD&D based board game

Post by Heath »

I'm looking for a board game that was based on AD&D. I'm pretty sure it was called "Raistlan's Game" but maybe it was called something else as Google searches haven't lead me anywhere. It was a board game that was evidently based on a game that the character Raistlan played in the AD&D mythos. I think it had sort of a grid layout and was played with colored stones. Philip, my friend that recently passed away, and John and I used to play it all the time. I'd really like to have the game. Can someone help point me in the right direction? I've Googled but can't find any evidence of its existence anywhere.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Ok, I found it. It always happens that I can dig and research and work on a problem and just be stuck. And as soon as I ask for help, I find the answer. Right after I posted the question here, I found a Wikipedia page for board games based on D&D. I didn't see a "Raistlan's Game" but researched each one on the list from around the right time. Turns out, it was called Magestones.

Crud. I actually knew the answer but got here too late. Never played the game myself but I remember seeing ads for it in comic books back in the day. Is it any good?

We had a lot of fun playing it. I don't know if that was because it was a good game, or because we were all such good friends and anything we did together was a good time. I'm trying to track down a copy of it. The only one I've found so far is in the UK but he says he ships world-wide. I sent an email to ask how much shipping would be. Still waiting to hear back.

Found a copy for $20 shipped. (The one in the UK would have been nearly $50 after $ to £ conversion and shipping across the pond.) Just sent the PayPal. Can't wait to get it.

If it had been Raistlan's Game, that would have been a Dragonlance tie-in. I love that series and the Weiss/Hickman books are especially well written.

Got it. Great condition and complete! My son and I have been playing it. It's easy to set up, quick to play (with two players), and can be pretty fun.
