Suggest some Xbox 360 games?

Post by Heath »

Since I finally finished Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I need a new game to work on. I can't play first person shooters as they make me nauseous and give me a headache. Some 3rd person perspective games do too. Prototype and Assassin's Creed gave me a headache, but Conan didn't nor did the demos I played for Batman Arkham Asylum, Wet, or Afro Samurai.

I'm really not a big gamer. I'll go long spans when I never touch a controller, and long spans where all I play is a game or two of Madden with my son. I do like racing games, but not realistic ones. Things like Split Second or Burnout Paradise (but I've only played the demos). Those are a lot of fun. I also like really cheap games! My Internet situation makes playing online impossible, so nothing that requires Xbox Live.

So, anybody have any suggestions? My wife asked me to make a list in case she stopped by Gamestop on one of her trips into town. Right now that list is:

Burnout Paradise
Batman Arkham Asylum
Split Second
Madden (newer than the 2011 I have)
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I know you like a good science fiction story, so I would recommend trying Mass Effect. Some other good third person games are Red Dead Redemption, Enslaved Odyssey To The West, Prince of Persia, The Saboteur and although it plays better first person, Fallout games do give the player the option of playing from a third person perspective. Also, be aware that a lot of newer games have some occasional bad language (especially the F word), so keep that in mind if your kids are within earshot.

I would recommend watching some of the gameplay on Youtube first and see if any look interesting to you.

I'll second Enslaved. It's a shame it didn't sell well enough for a sequel. It is a solid game with a good story. Game play mechanics are really fun.

Mass Effect does look pretty interesting. I forgot about it. I've added it to the list. I'll check out the others too.

Wet is an awful game and sucks.

I would recommend: Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning, Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are great games.

Fable II, Fable III, Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV are all insanely funny games.

What makes it awful and suck? I thought the demo was fun, but that's all I've played of it.

+1 to this question. I, too, enjoyed the demo.

Binary Domain is a great 3rd person shooter that's accessible at a very cheap price. I've of my favourite games of the generation due to the characters / story and its out and out fun.

I'll echo the Mass Effect Trilogy love... Enjoyed the poop out of those games, and rank the second installment as one my most favorite game experiences. I imagine you could find the whole set used at a great price!
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

Losy controls, camera, and it's a poor man's Kill Bill vol. 1 storywise.

I've played it all the way through and once you get used to the kooky Tarantino art style and figure out the combo system, it's a decent game. Have to give it credit for trying a different twist on the usual shoot em up game.

If you love Babylon 5, Star Trek, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Firefly, Aliens, Predator, and every major space-based and/or intergalatic sci-fi film and TV series made since 1977 then chances are you will LOVE Mass Effect Trilogy while it's has some very obivious references to some of the franchises I listed above it also has an original feel to it's universe and some of the greatest characters, concepts, lore, an all-star voice cast, and universe in recent video game history (and you might want to check out the comics, the first 3 novels, and the anime movie) despite each game in the series having some major and different problems.

Also the amount of story-based DLC for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 is mind blowing. The combined file size for all of the single-player/story-based ME3 DLC alone could equal a game.
