Although I enjoyed each issue of Mighty Samson, and there were issues of Dr Solar I didn't like, (several early ones) the last four Dr Solars were so good I had to vote for that title as my fave from this line.

I voted for Solar, even though the stories were only 1% as good as VH1 Solar.

I thought SOLAR started out REALLY bad, but got better as it went. The others I felt had great covers, but declined through the run.

Overall I enjoyed Turok the most, but I thought the last 4 issues of Solar were very good (especially the origin story). I honestly think if Dark Horse had given Shooter enough time he was starting to really pull the stories together. I used to collect a lot of DH comics back in the 90's and even back then they had a notoriously short attention span.

Magnus which I thought was really excellent. The rest just weren't good enough imo.

I thought Magnus was the most consistent. I would have voted for Solar but the first few issues were SO terrible!! I liked the origin story and I felt that given a little more time it would have been terrific.

Mighty Samson all the way. :thumb:

I think it's more because I didn't have any expectations for this book going in, so it was easier to please.

Wasn't the problem that Dark Horse gave Shooter too much time. Turok #1 was the best selling issue in the whole line and it took 4 months for the next issue to come out. Maybe if the books had come out on time Shooter would have had the sales needed to finish his story.

I picked Samson. Mostly because I've always enjoyed Ollife's pencils. And redheads. You can't go wrong with redheads.

Been a long time since I enjoyed reading a superhero comic as much as I did Doctor Solar #5-8.

I actually liked Solar from the beginning. But it did get a lot better toward the end. The origin serial was pretty darn good.

And I really liked Mighty Samson. That was my favorite. And I think it was because he wasn't a Valiant character, and I had never read any of the Gold Key material, so it wasn't a re-hash of a re-hash. It was new and original.

I thought Magnus was the weakest only because it felt like I had read it before.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

First arc of Solar... terrible. The rest were great!
Turok 1 & 2... awesome! The rest, increadibly poor art...
Magnus, solid all the way through.
Samson good all the way also.

My 2 cents (minus inflation).

+1

I haven't had the heart to try the others, but I figured I couldn't lose on Mighty Sampson and I was pleasantly surprised. I probably would have bought it monthly.

Tell you what, the new Doctor Solar origin Shooter wrote for this line was one unbelievably good.
