Are the Dark Horse Books Worth It?
Hey, new Valiant fan here. I feel like I'd be missing out on the whole experience if I didn't read Magnus, Solar, and Turok, so I'm wondering whether I should just read the Dynamite books (they're only $2 each issue on Comixology, so that's definitely a factor), or the Dark Horse books as well? Are they any good? Does either publisher measure up to Valiant?
EDIT: I should also say that I'm not a fan of Dark Horse's superhero line-up. I tried Brain Boy, the FCBD 2014 issue, and the Project Black Sky internet miniseries. The only one I liked the the FCBD issue.

I don't think you are missing anything as it relates to Valiant by not reading them. Overall i enjoyed the Dark Horse versions, but the stories were very, very similar to the old Valiant books. No real new ground was broken.

No, you're not missing anything special.

I love the Dark Horse superhero universe, Project Black Sky officially, but it's Comics Greatest World 2.0 as I see it just as it's VU 3.0 that we are in with Valiant.
If I had to drop books I'd sooner drop my remaining Marvel & DC then the few DH PBS titles.

Shooter's new Doctor Solar origin in issues 5-8 of that title were out of the park.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.
