Babes of Broadway 1
Star Seed 7, 8, 9
Fatale Inherit the Earth tpb - softcover

For those that don't know, these are American Entertainment exclusives. Both are signed by Shooter, are limited to 5000, and come with numbered COAs. The comics are not numbered and are the regular comics.

Broadway Comics was started by Jim Shooter in 1995, right after his former company, Defiant, had folded. It was the fourth and up till now last attempt on a comic book universe. The company was a division of Broadway Video Entertainment with Jim Shooter as co-owner of the characters.

In 1996 Broadway Video Entertainment was sold to Golden Books, which then promptly went bankrupt. Broadway Comic didn't have the infrastructure or the means to continue. The year 1996 being one of the worst years for the comic book industry, the company was closed before it had a chance to start, just like a number of other new comic book companies.

Broadway Comics started up with three series: "Powers that Be" which turned into "Star Seed", "Fatale", and "Shadow State". Later several other series was planned to follow, but only "Knights on Broadway" was launched before Broadway Comics was discontinued. The closing of the company was very abrupt leaving unfinished storyarcs in all series but "Fatale".

The Broadway continuity was, like Shooter's two previous attempts, taking place in real time and the characters were most likely not to wear a super-hero uniform. The short time continuity existed left no real time for building a continuity. One of the interesting things Shooter did at Broadway Comics was the comic-within-comic having a comic called "Blood S.C.R.E.A.M." as a part of the story in "Shadow State". Blood S.C.R.E.A.M. was a way making fun of Rob Liefeld at Image from the names to the art and down to the first storyarc called "Image isn't everything".

I have some Broadway comics if anyone is interested...my dad ...ed in billandedsdeals...asked me to help him unload some books he has from golden to modern and I ran across some broadway books. He also has a very nice run of Cry for Dawn with all the variants( I will be putting these up on ebay soon)... I know that the broadway aren't anything spectacular, but maybe someone needs them for fillers. The only decent Broadway that he has is copies of Fatale # 5 signed with the #'d COA's...he also has..

Fatale 1-4
Shadowstate 1,2 (1 has a silver cover...I don't know if this is the way it came or a variant)
Powers That Be 1
and
the Fatale 5 signed (2) (what's a fair price for these 2?)

If anyone is intereseted PM me!!!

I paid $5 plus shipping for my signed Fatale #5 with COA. I was the only bidder. Shadow State #1 came with a foil cover. It is not a variant.---Steve

The silver cover is the normal cover, no variant.

The Fatal signed... I picked up two for $2.50 each on Ebay a while back. Maybe it was a fluke because I would think that these issues go for $5-$10 each. Broadway is just not in demand so often. GREAT line of books though... yet like many of the DUs here, very cheap. For any regular issue, I never paid more than $.50 cents an issue.

Yes, the same here. Actually, I would pick up an unsigned Fatale hardcover if one presented itself, but I don't think I need one signed and one unsigned to be complete...

No surprise there. Those are the only two books of any significant value that Broadway produced.

They should really be worth more considering how horribly rare they are.

Nice... :thumb:

I have a really nice one that I would like to send in.

If I ever get around to sending any books in then that will be one of them.

I also think that two of my MoB's might 9.6s. One would have a very slim chance of getting a 9.8 and the other could possibly get a 9.4.

Rare perhaps yes... but also there is demand. Just how many folks out there are crusing for these books ? And just because it is 'rare' I still would not give much for one.
