DynaKey Phase Two --featuring the combo book
Anyone else recall how Dynamite said they weren't done with Gold Key characters?
How they had a plan to put the characters all together in one book? In what way they didn't specify.
Has there been any news on that front now that the Phase 1 of DynaKey has been over 3-4 months now?

Nope, and I wouldn't expect anything either. That's typical Dynamite.Captain Craig wrote:Anyone else recall how Dynamite (sucks!) said they weren't done with Gold Key characters?

They tried to replace the failed Dynakey books with a King Features line and after that failed they are now attempting to mine James Bond. So yes typical Dynamite.Captain Craig wrote:Anyone else recall how Dynamite (sucks!) said they weren't done with Gold Key characters?

The fact that they still have the rights to the Phantom license baffles meRas the future fan wrote:They tried to replace the failed Dynakey books with a King Features line

They don't as of January 1, 2015. They are only allowed to use the character in crossover books - not solo books. How they are able to publish The King Phantom book is just another example of why Dynamite.omega_override wrote:The fact that they still have the rights to the Phantom license baffles meRas the future fan wrote:They tried to replace the failed Dynakey books with a King Features line

Didn't they get into some legal battle with Hermes Press because of the Peter David mini-series they're doing?

"Getting into some legal battle" appears to be the first (and possibly only) step in the marketing plan for everything they publish.omega_override wrote:Didn't they get into some legal battle with Hermes Press because of the Peter David mini-series they're doing?
Steal something --- pretend they have rights --- get (on-the-payroll) "press" about it --- try to convince the actual owners that they can both benefit --- publish --- rinse --- repeat
After repeatedly doing exactly this for more than a decade, it is clear... Dynamite

Re: DynaKey Phase Two --featuring the combo book
Magnus ended (surprisingly off, given how good the rest of the book was), Turok ended (as badly as it started, despite the promise from the second arc), Solar ended (too mediocre for me to continue beyond #8), and Doctor Spektor was never meant to be more than a mini (and since it was never Valiant I'm not interested). And no, I haven't heard anything about a second phase.
So overall, another complete failure to revitalize the Gold Key 3. Valiant certainly doesn't need them (especially Solar, since we now have Divinity), but dammit does it suck to see them squandered like this.

With what little we know of Divinity still...I'll take Solar in a NY minute.Watchtower wrote: So overall, another complete failure to revitalize the Gold Key 3. Divinity looks promising but that mini + Imperium issues still haven't sold me on the promise of the character.

They're also bringing Xena: Warrior Princess back...again. The only reason is because the show is rumored or is going to get a reboot on NBC minus Lucy Lawless and Rene' O'Connor which this version of Xena and Gabrielle is comic will continue.Ras the future fan wrote:They tried to replace the failed Dynakey books with a King Features line and after that failed they are now attempting to mine James Bond. Re: DynaKey Phase Two --featuring the combo book
I added this to my "pull list" at my LCS this week. Very curious and a bit concerned for the title all at the same time.
