I know that feeling! Wish we were going this year!

The reason we can't is that we're doing a before kindergarten blowout 17 day cruise/Kennedy Space Center/deep sea fishing extravaganza in April/May. So, I'll have neither the PTO or money for an SDCC trip.

Have fun at SDCC!

Added on an extra day (Tuesday) to my hotel reservation. I'll be driving down from Las Vegas that day and leaving Sunday after the con.

I'll probably just stick my wife on a plane from Vegas-SD ... looks like you can get one-way tickets for around $50 for that. I'll force the kids to drive with me. Since I like to overdo things we will be flying into Vegas on the Friday before and leaving from there the Tuesday after the con. I still have to get some hotel rooms for that place ... thinking something fun for the first leg and something ritzy for the last couple of days. Also need to rent a car.

Spent so far: $610 for con passes, $1140 for SD hotel, $1250 for plane tickets ... even $3000
Still to come: $900 for hotels in Vegas (costs so much more with kids!), $500 for rental car, $400 for son's plane ticket (still unsure of his work schedule or if he is definitely coming) ... $1400-1800 total
My wife is covering the spending money once we get there, although I might have to scare up some bucks for comics purchases.

I think we both know that you have some items that you can sell to get that cash.

Get on the eBay train. You know that what ever you "plan" on spending at SDCC will not be enough.

I went in 2011 as a bucket list kind of thing. But now I want to go every year. I could do it much, much cheaper by myself or with just one of my kids. This year is getting expensive because I am packing on a lot of extra stuff. I figure in for a penny, in for a pound.

Trying to come up with some goals for this trip, including:

Wait overnight in a Hall H line.
Get drunk during the day and then go strike up a conversation with Chuck Rozanski.
Meet LeVar Burton.

These are things you can do in SDCC.

Sorry for being MIA. The past few months have been busy and unfortunately there is no sign of it letting up. :|

However, there will be poker. Count on it. :thumb:
