Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
Bloody wrathful. Great writing, outstanding art. Eager to see where the Labyrinth takes us.

Agreed. Think anyone complaining about this series being boring needs to read these two prelude issues.

Fantastic book! Now we see where the Wrath comes from in the title. Felt like a great Conan book.

Re: WotEW #6
While it was interesting to see what happens in Gilad's afterlife each time he 'dies', I've much preferred these prelude issues to the first four. At least there was a common thread between the first two story arcs, so it's already off to a better start than the first volume of EW.

I'm starting to be thankful I got this as an ongoing title. First few issues was ok not wowed but this issue was wrathful as OTV stated. Good art good story telling and hella interesting. For a character I wasent really interested in I'm being surprised. Good work Valiant!
I Miss the good old days.

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
Surely this series is gonna win some industry awards this year. Every single issue thus far has been creative and spectacular. You can't beat it for comic book entertainment if you're a sword and sorcery or RPG fan; during the armory fight scene, I wondered what level warrior Gilad would've been.
Edit: I was just reading this archeological news article, and it reminded me of more than a few Eternal Warrior scenes (the Science piece is fascinating and very much worth reading if you're a history geek, btw): http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/03/ ... age-battle

VDitti on top form here, perfectly matched by Ryp's art. Finally Eternal Warrior being fleshed out after the previous false starts.

I'll be interested to know what happened to Gil's body, why wouldn't Ninjak, Livewire etc do him a funeral? I know it gets I to the hands of the bad guy of Labrynth but did he dig the body up?

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
The whole first arc, while not bad by any means, didn't exactly thrill me, and after #4's ending tease #5 seemed to come out of nowhere. However, this issue not only does a surprisingly good job tying everything together, but it really cements Venditti as a solid writer for Gilad.
But let's address the big elephant in the room: The Immortal Enemy. This is a character that's had a pretty interesting history following Valiant's revival. IIRC the Null was initially meant to be a sort of analogue to the Enemy, what with the whole possession aspect, but that ultimately didn't go anywhere save for a reappearance in Timewalker. Then came the Enemy himself, though he was completely rewritten to be this shapeshifting lich and was only tied to the original through his name and his hatred of Gilad.
Now, we have the original Enemy, the one with the red-green eyes and the reincarnation through time. Gone is his standard 90s-villain evil, now replaced with a cunning ages-old pursuit for control, and while he and Gilad don't have this whole rivalry thing going it definitely looks like Gilad will have some personal tension, since the Enemy seems to be a good reason why Kalam drifted apart.

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
Man, this issue was fantastic! A simple revenge theme but with extra good layers of character development & motivations - all carried out with a pitch-perfect delivery. Outstanding art, strong writing... So good.
I also remain very curious as to what they're gonna call this guy, since he can't really be tied to the modern VEI Immortal Enemy from The Valiant story. I always think back to the cover of VH1 EW #13, where the title was scratched out and instead read "Eternal Enemy". I think that would fit, and that wasn't used in that second arc of A&A, was it?

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
I liked these two issues, though issue 5 read so fast and had so little plot that the entire prelude could have easily been 1 issue. All they needed was one or two pages showing the raid and abduction and Gilad's tracking.
I feel like VALIANT is trying to mimic Hawkeye a bit with this series: a main story with the same artist/writer combo (Rivera/VDitti), interspersed with other stories that add to the main one, but with a different artist (like Ryp).

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
I had only read #1 of this title so far. It's tone and material weren't exactly to my liking but now, after reading everyone's comments on these last two issues, decided to check back in.
Really glad that I did. These last two issues were amazing. Ryp's art enhances the violence so well and the level of detail is impressive. The overall story of revenge and rescue is very well-done (loved Gilad's speech to the dying Jayock).
Since this occurs in Mesopotamia though, I kept wondering where was Gilgamesh? (Or maybe I'm getting my ancient history confused).
This new enemy (or rather new version of an old enemy) looks very interesting. Looking forward to seeing where this upcoming arc leads now.

Best issue so far. The artwork is trememdous, but the story really is the driver here. WRATH!!!!!!
Loving the direction of these last 2 issues- I have 0 idea on what's coming on.

According to Archer & Armstrong #0, Armstrong wrote the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the character was a fictional combination of the 3 Anni-Pada brothers!String wrote:Since this occurs in Mesopotamia though, I kept wondering where was Gilgamesh? (Or maybe I'm getting my ancient history confused).

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion
I echo the sentiments throughout this thread
I loved it. Loved the wrath. Loved the blood and guts and gore. I praise Ryp every time i see his work ...and he brings it to yet another level. There is just so much intensity and grit to his work. And bellaire's colors just compliments the art so well.
Vditti keeps the story simple but still interesting and meaty enough to where i'm satisfied.
