the Lewis LaRosa signing -- 'SAVAGE' release party
Lewis LaRosa lives in the Atlanta area, so he signed at Dr No's Comics in Marietta last night.

Incredible guy with lots to share.
He loves dinosaurs. I mean he LOVES dinosaurs.
He told Valiant he would draw any book that included them.
We discussed which artists are really talented, but didn't study the anatomy of a dinosaur much.
Lewis has frequented this shop since he was 13.
The same owner runs the shop since 1982.
He was giving away a rare printed lettering guide copy of Savage #1, used in the production of the comic.

When i showed up, Lewis was already drawing for a fan:

Here's the finished product.

Lewis brought a book of originals.
This man is the BEST at originals.
He loves to gray-tone every page (not just rough pencils for an inker to finish).

He drew two more sketch covers before my turn.
Both asked for the main character (i forgot to get pics).
I wanted him to do another dinosaur --

Great night! Thanks Lewis!

The guys is amazing. Is that what that grey putty is for, the gray tones? To pull up the pencil lead a tad?

It's like an eraser... I recall seeing artists at cons using the stuff to rub out pencil lines with. I think it's really effective, like, much less 'smudgy' than normal erasers, and damages paper less.jmatt wrote:The guys is amazing. Is that what that grey putty is for, the gray tones? Pretty easy to buy the stuff far as I know.

Yeah, the putty is basically an eraser. I used it a lot more for charcoal or conté drawings, personally. Definitely less damaging to the paper, but I always found it less effective on my own pencils.Shadowman99 wrote:It's like an eraser... Man, that's really cool that you got to go meet him - Lewis is a ridiculously nice, cool dude. And incredible artist, one of my favourite top modern comic artists!
Thanks for sharing the pix!

I like to draw stuff... http://grendeljd.deviantart.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My wife likes to draw stuff too, and she is better than me! [I'm very proud of her]... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sara-Dec ... ref=stream" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's a kneaded eraser.
When I draw it's a "much kneaded eraser".
