Yep, here we go, replying to another tweet asking about Rai and BS Reborn after the Feb solicits came out:
dino wrote:details on Bloodshot soon. Rai is on hiatus for a bit while we build what's next for him #FutureForce

Please get rid of that stupid name "Future Force"
Eh, I like it :D

It was terrible when it came out in the 90's. It is still terrible. If Rai took place in present day would we call the title Rai and the Present Force?
Names don't always have to make sense to be cool. Although maybe you could create a book this time of year called "Santa and the Present Force". I like it, I think many others like it as well. You are welcome to dislike it.
 I disagree and I really dislike it. :peace:

"Rai and the Future Force" sounds cool - I love it!

It doesn't need to make much sense it just has a nice flow to it.

I still like it as a title (or sub-title really), as long as the characters don't actually refer to themselves as "The Future Force" in the story. That's kinda lame, and FormerReader makes a great point about it. It's our future, their present. Makes no sense for them to call themselves that.

I agree with former reader. "The Future Force" sounds like something outta Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Bleh.

Hmmmm... unless the next issue is going to be #23, to count the BS USA issues as #'s 19-23, then I don't know how else it can be yes AND no. I guess we'll know before long.

Personally I'd be fine with the series subtitled Rai: Future Force. I'm mostly indifferent as to the title to be honest. Don't think it's great, don't think it's terrible so by default yeah, run with it.

I don't really like the idea of the characters referring to themselves as the 'Future Force' without any sensible reason. I guess if it were well-written enough that Rai and his gang were working toward an improved future for mankind then they could justify the gang name with their intention toward future goals - that makes sense, if you see it that way. And to be honest, it could be argued that that's exactly what the gang have worked toward throughout the whole first run.

If it's a direct continuation of plot events I'd like to see continuous numbering in whatever way fits best (#19/#23), especially as BS doesn't appear to be getting re-subtitled.

I just hope that when Rai comes back it's issue #17.
Like it or not Rai & the Future Force is an IP owned by VEI, they have to protect that so I fully expect it to be used at some point.
Could totally see the makeup of the Future Force: Spylocke, Lula, Lemur, new character or 2

Also, since this thread was started we can rule out Generation Zero as existing much past Spring. It'll end April or May at the latest.

Who's gonna be the new Spylocke then? :kidaround: :hm:

Fair point with 'Future Force' IP though

I interpreted this differently, in that Dinesh was excited for the upcoming issue of BS USA and that he digs the logo on the trade dress...

We know BS isn't coming in Feb, I would be very happy with a new Bloodshot #1, I mean, the guy isn't really 'reborn' anymore is he? :thumb:

If it's still set in 4001 (and I hope so), could part of that "Future Force" include a ramped up WarMother??? I am sure there is plenty to resolve in 4002 Earth, I think she would make an excellent part of the team, weapons expert!

Could they come across the 4001 Bloodshot? Again, that would be an excellent meet up for an arc or something.

Yes, I want more of the 4001 Bloodshot as well... such an interesting entity.

Spylocke - isn't Lula Lee supposed to be(come) the new Spylocke?

Lemur - didn't he die? *sniff*

Just speculating... The new trade dress looks similar to the upcoming XO trade dress. I wonder if the "yes and no" refers to a new way for all Valiant books to be published, with the independently titled story arcs (Soldier for XO). BS:USA may have actually been leading into this.... a series of mini-series, so to speak.

Well, there are a few more things set to occur in Bloodshot:

1.) he needs to sail with Armstrong and battle Rampage.

2.) he needs to head north and live in peace with the Eskimo people, fall in love, and then be captured by a starship and taken to space.

3.) he needs to fight in The Robot Wars hundreds of years in the future.

4.) he needs to become more than a Solder; he must become a King.

5.) he needs to be de-throned and sent to a land where he must hunt and kill dinosaurs.

6.) he needs to die far in the future.

7.) he needs to be reborn once again in 4001, no longer Ray, but free, untethered, and ready for the future.

The flash forwards from the Book of Death either are a blessing or a curse.

I'd really love to see all of this come true... plus at least a mini-series starring the Beast Brigade and Bloodhound.

This much 'stuff to do' does seem rather restrictive in terms of having this much to shoehorn into various future comics. I'd put a strong bet on VEI never resolving half of it.

It rather is a matter of time and for how long BS Reborn will be continued and written by Jeff Lemire.

It's certainly a matter of time, but I don't think it's necessarily a case of Lemire having to be writing the book. Seems to me like all we need here is a number of 4001 arcs delivered, one way or another, to resolve these future events.

I would say that unless VEI put out a Bloodshot comic at some point that's set in various points in the character's future that runs long enough to resolve all these events then I can't see them ever coming to light. One or two maybe as it suits whatever story is being written at the time, but I just don't think VEI are going to stick to these seeds as gospel and make sure they all get addressed :twocents:

Considering the time frames involved in the stories from Fall of Bloodshot, VEI could easily treat these story seeds as gospel, but that doesn't mean that they would actually have to be addressed at any point. The tendency for the comics to be set in the 'current day' precludes most of those stories from being explored. Unless the 4001 Bloodshot has flashbacks to cover some of these, or they do an unconnected mini-series to tell one or another of these stories (like you suggested), I don't see them coming up again any time soon.

i think ongoings, in general, are on the verge of extinction. one has to give credit to vei that their mini-series and one-shots program paid off, they are selling more units in little chunks, than if those series (divinity, britannia etc) would go on. it's really a struggle to keep ongoings on the market, i mean, if the leading publisher (marvel) can't do it, it's even harder for small publishers. the mix of a handful ongoings and a lot of minis is a healthy one and i am pretty sure vei will keep that going.
