I wish I could say the same. I'm excited for a Shadowman movie, but I'm not a fan of Hudlin's work in a numbers of mediums.

:hope: Just ready to see something on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Movie Theater, or YouTube Red it don't matter.

News died out really quick on Doctor M on the CW. Anyone know anything there?

A&A had news come out but has been quiet since.

Harbinger, waiting for more news on this. Script is written, but anything else?

Bloodshot had a list the 5 or 6 actor names.

Looks Like Ninjak Vs. is around the corner with all the Variants being released.
Do we get the news of release at San Diego or New York Comic Con?

I would like to see a animated series too. I think Faith would be a good Saturday Morning Cartoon.

Excited to see just how dark they can get.

Wonder if this movie will be based off of the upcoming series as the last series left a bit to be desired.

Also wondering, with him having some background in the comic industry, if he will also write the upcoming Shadowman series

That's part of my issue. His comic writing often tends to be over-politicized. Not that there isn't room for commentary in comics, but he is not terribly subtle about it and it tends to overshadow the characters.

This is great.

After watching the Black Panther trailer and how cool Ryan Coogler has made Wakanda, mixing African culture with the Marvel cinematic, I feel like Hudlin could do something similar with Shadowman. It is impressive what people do with comic characters outside the pages so my hopes are up.

SWEET! And totally unexpected.

I suppose deals like the one I got on eBay on Sunday will cease to exist - Shadowman 1 CBCS 9.8 for $26.01. This happened the weekend before they announced the Q&W news where I got a near full run for $12 (allegedly file copies, which I think is true given the source).

The only one that was over politicized was Black Panther, and that book is all about that anyways. It's hard to not write BP and be non - political.

Reggie is a good guy, have had him at the stores for a signing a couple of times, for Black Panther and for the vertigo book he did with Dennys Cowan, and he's a very smart dude. If you are going to do a book about a black musician from New Orleans, there is probably no better choice for a director than this guy. He's very good at what he does.

Also, he's reworking the Strazcynski script, which is a good point to start from, Joe's stuff is always good, hopefully Reggie can make it great.

Any news is good news. Scripts, producers and director announcements are good news. Great news will come when casting and principal photography are announced.

No idea who this guy is but if he's into comics to begin with then that seems to be a good foot to start off on. Interesting that JMS still seems to be involved in the project despite his script being re-worked.

Someone postulated how the new script will relate to the comic material to date and I think that's an interesting consideration: I wonder from where/how Valiant will start the cinematic Shadowman story from, what with all the 'Magpie' stuff etc. ?

I'm sure he's a good guy, and my opinion of his work was not meant to be a reflection of his character. And yes, Black Panther was the one I had in mind. As you can tell by my user name I'm a huge Black Panther fan, and I couldn't stand what he did to my favorite character with his Black Panther runs. Totally changed the personality of the T'challa. And by over-politicized I mean using his platform to make personal statements that were out of character for BP. Obviously a comic book about character who is a king is going to have a political side to it. But it can be done without blatantly injecting your own personal politics into the midst of it. Go look at the Christopher Priest run or the Don McGregor run on Panther. Political in nature, but much more subtle and well-written. Just my thoughts. I hope I'm wrong.

Anti Imperialism, anti US and other powers proxy wars is fine. But i hate the idea of Panther preaching about economics for the left or the right.

Hudlin wrote one of the seminal Black Panther runs of all time (along with Christopher Priest). He also has a directorial history going back decades, and has produced films as well (such as Django Unchained). Many, if not most, of these movies have been primarily driven by Black/African-American casts. So he's a good fit for Shadowman.

In terms of the script, JMS wrote it prior to the most recent VEI issues, sometime during the original VEI launch. He mentioned back then wanting to include many of the original VH1 aspects of the character including jazz/saxophone, New Orleans, etc, that were not a huge part of the VEI Shadowman. I doubt you'll see anything like the Magpie, but maybe a mix of elements form VH1 Shadowman and VEI Shadowman 0-10.

As I've previously stated, I'm worried about these properties being developed for different studios. Isn't Marvel still kicking themselves for letting the film rights get so splintered? I want to see films and TV shows, but it will be pretty hollow if the different properties are totally unconnected.

This one, as well as the others (minus Harbinger and Bloodshot) haven't been shopped to studios yet, so I think you might be jumping the gun a bit. I get your worry though...

That's what the VEI Shadowman really needs. New Orleans and Jazz were such a big part of what made Shadowman a great character. Without that background he's rather flat and one-note.
