CGC Package Refusal
Would anyone care to share their personal experiences with CGC refusing your package at pick up? I received notification of the refusal today from USPS but it doesn't specify why. I tried calling the Sarasota post office but no one would answer the phone all afternoon. I decided to call CGC to ask if they might know why. The nice lady said it was more than likely due to the package being damaged during shipping and they didn't want to risk the books arriving to them in a different condition than when I sent them originally. While I'm confident in my packing, I placed all 5 books in a plastic bag, taped them between 2 pieces of cardboard, packed them in a box, wrapped the box with bubble wrap, and then packed in a medium flat rate box, I'm left to wonder how much damage was done to the box. I hope USPS plans on reshipping the items for free. Now...the wait.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
I got through to the post office. I spoke with the Customer Service Manger. She was very nice and said the package was already being sent back to me. The outer box apparently had moisture damage to it and CGC refused to accept. The manager said Sarasota had received a tremendous amount of rain a couple of days before so the package got it. It's a new experience for me. She said USPS should cover the costs to reship. I packaged very well, so unless the package was soaked in water, I doubt the books sustained any damage.

That's a good result. I have had some packages get a little wet and the comics have been OK. I am hoping your comics are fine.greatbrandino11 wrote:I got through to the post office. Here's an update on my situation...
Here's to hoping it arrives on Thursday. I have a feeling this will drag on to next week...possibly longer.

Try it again with just text...
Me: Good Morning,
I had a package delivered to Sarasota, FL on Thurs., Aug. 3. The package was refused by the recipient because the box was wet. I contacted the Sarasota hub
and they said the package had already been sent back so they could not check the extent of the damage. My main concerns at this point are 1) I still have not
received my package and 2) I was all but told to expect to have to jump through hoops to get the USPS to ship the package the same way (Priority, insured,
and signature conf.) or to get my money back ($25.25).
Thanks,
Brandon
USPS: Good morning,
Unfortunately, returned packages are not processed with the same services as they are sent nor are they guaranteed tracking. This package should still be
processing as returned to sender. ^BRS
Me: I know that. Why doesn't USPS return the package the same way the customer sent it? It doesn't make sense to charge for Priority shipping, damage the box,
and send it back via Media Mail with no way of tracking it and not care if it takes 3 days or 3 weeks.
USPS: The postage paid pays for the one way shipping services chosen by the customer. It does not also cover expedited return services. ^BRS
Me: So USPS doesn't want to pay their own prices to properly ship material back to their customers. Sounds about right. How do I go about getting my refund?

Re: CGC Package Refusal
USPS sucks. I am still waiting on my packages from CGC which were shipped out on 7/19 & 7/20. As of 7/23 they have been listed as having arrived at a facility in my county and are "out for delivery." Despite being sent back Priority Mail, which is supposed to take 1–3 business days, since they are also sent Registered Mail, I was told by a USPS rep that this is the slowest service and I should expect it to take 10–14 days, and that they couldn't tell me exactly where my packages were. Today is day 15 and 16, if you don't count the day they actually shipped out a business day.greatbrandino11 wrote:Try it again with just text...

Additionally, A package sent Media Mail from InStockTrades is tracking as a delivery having been attempted on 7/31, and that the employee didn't have access to my building (I live in an apartment building; the daily USPS mailman has a key to the building), and they would attempt to deliver the next business day. No word since, and no package.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
At this point, I'll eat the $25.25 for my books just to be returned to me safely. I'll definitely inspect the package, when I get it, and repackage it for UPS. I always used USPS because of the convenience at my workplace. I'm still baffled by the package refusal by CGC. I've never heard of that. I have learned a little about the Sarasota post office though. NGC is the number 1 customer (for the obvious reasons). They actually have their own department at the post office and their own special clerks to sort the mail. I was assured by Jacy Quinn, the Customer Service Manager, that my package will arrive safely, and to not worry. She said she has never had a problem with NGC property not arriving to its destination. She must not read the forums.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
On a side note, Jacy Quinn has been incredibly helpful in trying to help track down my package. She spoke with an NGC rep and called me back today. When NGC refuses a package, they send it back out immediately to the distribution center. It bypasses the post office entirely. She said someone failed to scan it in to keep up with the tracking.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
My package arrived back to me today, a week after being refused. Overall, not bad, but I would have liked to received tracking notifications for it. The box had definitely been wet and was beaten up, but thanks to my proper packing, my books were unharmed. Always pack as if several lazy, inconsiderate dumbasses will be handling your property.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
I'll find out on Monday. On Twitter, USPS told me I will have to open a claim. The manager in Sarasota told me to go to my local USPS and they'll issue a refund. I believe the former is the route I'll have to go. It will not be an open/shut case. I'm sure it will be a long drawn out process to issue a simple refund.

Re: CGC Package Refusal
For the record, I filed a claim showing proof of shipping price and damages to box with USPS and received a check in the mail for the full amount. No questions asked and the check arrived within a week's time.
