Re: Fallen World #2 Discussion
Another great issue from Abnett and Pollina!
Great use of continuity, fast paced and interesting story with twists and turns complemented with superb art! And, plot twist (!), War Mother shows up too!! Let’s see if this character can be more interesting out of the hands of FVL, will the gun still be a goofy teenager ? ? Let’s hope not!
Only gripe...Lula eye path moved from her left eye to her right eye from issue #1 to issue #2 Very poor editing!!
4.75/5 (.25 Lost for the eye patch mess up)

Re: Fallen World #2 Discussion
Man, I couldn't disagree with the VCR* comments more.
This book is great. Best thing VEI has put out in a long time.
- The art is absolutely fantastic. Detailed. Understandable. Helps move the story along (so the writer doesn't have to explain every last detail - you know, what a comic should be). But I'm in the camp that Crain's art was WAY too murky, dark, static, and unclear, so I welcome the change.
- The writing is incredibly good. Great by recent VEI standards. Lots of dialogue that develops characters and moves the story along without just being Kindt-style narration boxes that explains the story at us instead of drawing us into the world to be a part of it. I loved the bird banter you guys seemed to hate. Banter (or "comic booky" writing as DBS called it) makes the unrealistic more relatable. It's also just funny. I genuinely chuckled out loud at that panel. But I'm in the camp that isn't the 2500 people that worship at the Alter of Dysart - I find his writing so emotionless and clinical that I'm asleep within a few pages of every comic he's done at VEI.
I do get the criticism that jumping right onto the Father train again wasn't the most novel approach, but I blame that on editorial. And I actually really appreciated the final panel appearance as it reminds us that Valiant is supposed to be the best cohesive universe line out there.
*Just started listening to the podcast. Rarely agree with you guys, but dig the perspectives, insight, and production quality.

Haven’t listened to VCR yet but I’d be shocked if Chris didn’t like this series!! what’s not to like?? It’s heavy in continuity and has great art. As Swift said Crain’s art was often unclear and this could break up the flow of reading the book. Polina’s art is clear and stylish.

I wasn't on this week but for the record I did really like it, I would have gone 4.5/5.

Re: Fallen World #2 Discussion
I'm in the camp that likes the artist change for 4001/2 books. I think Crain is a great for cover art, but I think his storytelling could use some work, and often there's not a clear enough separation of what matters and what is just background.
I'm liking Fallen World so far, but would have preferred if they didn't bring War Mother into it. The world is big, and the odds that the main characters crash landed near her are pretty small.
I do hope they continue with a regular, ongoing, monthly 4002 book. Have it rotate characters (Rai, Eternal Warrior, War Mother, etc.). That way you can have a fresh book but still have some continuity.

With Lula's talk of "Free Wills" and the face of Father, is this suggesting an introduction of the Malev Emperor?

Re: Fallen World #2 Discussion
The best part is that they could have various storylines come together in a crossover. It would be awesome if they treated 4002 the way Game of Thrones was told. A big cast of characters in a longer ongoing story. It's not any one character's book, or even a team; it's a saga. The Chosen 1 wrote:That's an awesome idea.kjjohanson wrote:I do hope they continue with a regular, ongoing, monthly 4002 book. DC did that with L.E.G.I.O.N. in the late '80s/early '90s.AnarchoMambo wrote:4002,...4003,....4004,...

I enjoyed it well enough, but I'd need to re-read it again to get a more fresh take [so much on the go lately that some stuff I read fades from the mind rather quickly].Dallow Spicer1 wrote:Anything less than 4/5 for this book is insane! Grendel what are your thoughts (don’t let me down dude )?
One thing that still stands out in my mind is that Gilad was yelling a lot in a manner that felt very forced, comic-booky & out of character in this specific issue [not so much in the first]. Art is solid. At the moment & based on rather poor recall, I'd give it a 3.5/5.
