Rai #2 Discussion
Was I the only one that was incredibly disappointed? This was not Ryp's best work, and the colors aren't very pleasant to look at. It all just felt a little lost and bland.
EDIT: Also, where the OTV at?

Re: Rai #2 Discussion
The best single issue Valiant has put out in a long, long time.

Okay, evidently no one agreed with me. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Re: Rai #2 Discussion
The art was the only saving grace for me, and that’s not saying much because I feel like Ryp’s art doesn’t gel well with this character and setting. The dialogue was repetitive, with little to no progress in story. I get all the pre order editions for the extra content, but man, some of the covers have been really bad across the board.

Re: Rai #2 Discussion
It was ok, but the Raijin sidekick is getting tedious quickly. I understand it’s a plot device to explain what’s happening but the back and forth (‘I’m not a child’) wears thin.
I read somewhere that this series will be self contained stories each issue and I like the concept of that. In this issue I felt the basic premise for the story was dragged out a bit long and it needed something else to make the story more convincing.
Ryp’s art I don’t think is suited to this series. The fight scenes didn’t feel very dynamic when he was battling Loci. Look at his hand in each fight scene, how is he striking her? Bit bland.
3.5/5 - readable but not as good as Fallen World (so far)

Re: Rai #2 Discussion
Meanwhile, I think Ryp's style (even altered to be Darrow-esque here) is great for this book. But I'm also one who that Crain's art on the original run was unclear, static, and boring.

This was my thought exactly on the linework - very Darrow-esque.SwiftMann wrote:think Ryp's style (even altered to be Darrow-esque here)

Re: Rai #2 Discussion
Sorry guys I have not been on the boards much but this was my favorite issue hands down. I loved so much about this story, art and colors. It asked some very important questions and showed some very stark contrasts between what makes Rai the hero and Bloodfather the villain in such subtle ways. Also shows how much Raijin does not grasp even though he is older that Rai. So much great stuff to enjoy in this issue!
