And now I am more annoyed - I tried to bid 201.15 and must have hit 102 instead lol

Oh wow! I missed that one. I think it was a real miss to not describe that properly in the title. I would have paid handsomely for it. That should have been a four figure book.

I didn't see it, that's for sure.

Who won, and more importantly, who are the other bidders that saw it and didn't bother bidding above $100?

That should have been a lesson for people on eBay, all he had to do is put the word Valiant in the title and I would have seen it. That normally how I search, Valiant CGC 9.8.
I am not sure if it is a 4 figure book, but it should have gone for at least $400.
I bought my raw for $150 as a buy it now. It is a solid 9.6 if I was to grade it, would have been nice to of gotten this book.

It may be worth noting that Ebay has done some changes that broke sniping software.
Not saying that happened here, since none of us even saw the auction... but if someone did set a snipe, it probably didn't fire.

Why feeBay is trying to make sniping more difficult is beyond me. I would think they would encourage it. Only 1 of the sniping sites I use is working properly right now so that might have something to do with some auction results we are seeing.

On the other hand I am not sure how much interest there is in CGC 9.8 VVSS books. I didn’t see this Eternal Warrior auction and would have bid more but last week I picked up a 9.8 VVSS Armorines 1 for $100.

I know CKB sold a 9.6 a year ago for $300. There is only 1 9.8 on the census, presumably this one. I would have paid 4 figures for it. I had four figure offers for my Harbinger TPB 2nd print, which I traded for a Cary Nord painted cover.

Refardless, the seller missed an opportunity for certain.

BTW, my anecdotal experience was this was the hardest Valiant book for me to find outside of the X-O Iron Man preview book. It took me years. I buy them whenever I can. They are great trade fodder.

Assuming the seller knew it was the only 9.8, you think they would have put it up for a buy it now to control the total amount.

I don’t doubt it went cheap but I don’t think at auction you would have had to pay close to 4 figures for it as in that range you likely would only be bidding against yourself. I see this as maybe a $250-400 book. It is quite niche (I like collecting niche things - it is easier on the wallet).

The 90s Harbinger TPB went to a 2nd print. There is no outward indication on the cover between first and second prints - the second print was not polybagged with the Harbinger 0 blue cover, so it looks just like an opened first print. On the first page it is clearly marked SECOND PRINT.

I won't say what my max bid was but I'll say that I was bidding to win it given my perceived rarity of a 9.8 EW 27 VVSS but I also believe I would have been outbid if any of at least 3 other Valiant collectors had been bidding on the same auction.
