Massive layoffs at Valiant today :(
For anyone that didn't see it there was a pretty long thread this morning from someone who says they were laid off by Valiant this morning during a mass firing. At least one other person replied that they were there and also were laid off. The thread has been deleted since. Does anyone know any more?

Re: Massive layoffs at Valiant today :(
I don’t know that massive is the right word here..lol. According to the article it was 2 people. Honestly if they haven’t seen it coming they have not had their eyes open. DMG is back to upsetting creators. Brett Booth is off Bloodshot, Juan Jose Ryp has moved on from Rai (personally that hurts me!) and rumors abound about other unhappy creatives. If you work at DMG you have to be very worried. With the movies slow to not moving (other than Bloodshot), publishing stopped because of the pandemic and mediocre reviews on a video game that is not even new, I would have to wonder if anyone there will have a job in 6 months. I do give them credit for not letting anyone go when this broke. I could see this as the end for them. I hope not but it does not look good.

He posted it. I followed up with him and some others. He loved doing Rai but with pencils down he moved on to other projects, like several other artists. I really hope he comes back, but I think he is to in demand for that to happen.

Where'd he post it? Not saying I doubt you, I just want to keep up with where his next work may be.Ramses818 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:08:53 pmHe posted it. I followed up with him and some others. On his Facebook (maybe ywitter?) I think Lyja Hawkins also publicly replied explaining it was only pencils down not a cancellation. I Then messaged him privately to follow up. I am excited to see his new projects also!darkwingdan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 1:26:26 pmWhere'd he post it? The final update says "Valiant reps state that Russell [Braun] remains in his current position."
So what is it?
Anyhow, how can they even keep (paying) everyone with the way they have pushed back all their series; some even to next year?
June - 1 issue
July - 2 issues plus the FCBD
Aug - 4 issues, 1 trade, and the "Fully Loaded" edition (which is going to be another rare one)
No #1 until Savage in Aug and this won't sell many copies anyway.
How can they possibly survive?

They’re part of a larger conglomerate now. They can survive as long as DMG is willing to foot the bill. Given all the recent world economic issues, it will all depend on how much money DMG is losing in it all and do they even pay attention to the tiny blip on their expense reports that is VALIANT?Sunlight on Snow wrote:https://bleedingcool.com/comics/valiant ... undancies/

What "Larger conglomerate"? . It's DMG USA, not DMG... This is Dan Mintz company...him. with all the problems they (both companies) are having with China I am sure they are acutely aware of every penny at Valiant. If Valiant was a "blip" why would they order pencils down? Obviously it's not a "blip". I wonder how long DMG can continue..BugsySig wrote: ↑Sun Jun 21, 2020 8:23:23 amThey’re part of a larger conglomerate now. They can survive as long as DMG is willing to foot the bill. They cut back like everyone else. You get orders from the top to cut and you cut. I’m not saying they ARE being ignored, I’m saying they are a very small part of a very large group. So they CAN survive based solely off of that. They’re not privately owned anymore. You can also flip it and say that DMG could pull the plug on them at any time regardless of how successful they might be because they don’t actually give a *SQUEE* about comic books. They own the IPs and can farm them out to whoever they want.Ramses818 wrote:What "Larger conglomerate"? . It's DMG USA, not DMG... Doesn't look like he's at Valiant anymore based on his Linkedin
