Welcome to Dead Universes...
Welcome to the Dead Universes (DU) forum. I have asked Greg to allow a section to exist in which we can discuss other dead universes such as Defiant, Continuity, CrossGen, Malibu, Ultraverse, Bravura, Broadway and many others. I will be providing a (hopefully) complete checklist of all the aforementioned (and hopefully more) DUs. It would be great if we can discuss these great books that we collected (or currently collect). There is much to be learned and discussed. I truly hope that this will become an informative and most of all FUN section. I think that you will be surprised at how passionate and loyal people can be in regards to these 'Dead Universes'.
Another aspect of this section is to post 'needs lists'. If you are collecting a certain DU, then post your needs list and hopefully between the members of the valiantfans.com we can complete each others collections. We can do this through trading (highly recommended), buying/selling or clueing someone onto an Ebay auction.
Sit back, relax, remember the old days... and enjoy.

A lot of people around here know I've been trying to put together an Ultraverse run. I'm getting closer, just missing a handful of commons and a couple of the gold holos (I need the Strangers and Hardcase ... will trade mucho cool crap for those).
I've traded with several guys here, it was always like a secret society ...

I posted the trading card list here viewtopic.php?p=127339#127339 . VERY good idea jedi.
I will look into posting card lists on the other threads as well... kind of like one stop shopping.
I cant tell you how many different websites I have needed to go to for this kind of info. I think it is great that we can have a consolidated information warehouse.

The information I found out about The Protectors I found INCREDIBLY useful. This is something that Tom Mason has never relayed to me (well, not like I asked either but... )Todd Luck wrote:Hey, while we're resurrecting old threads on dead universes how bout putting these on this forum?

I tell ya jedi... I find collecting dead universes very entertaining. These books are CHEAP and finite. With an attainable goal that will not cost an arm and a leg (anything over $.20 cents an issue is ROBBERY, as these books most often time come as packing material between books that you order on Ebay... in fact, that is how I found some of these dead universes).
The idea that the art can sometimes be sub-par does not bother me as the actual READING of these books is down right FUN. No Earth shattering stories about human/mutant angst or socio-economic issues or digs at the current administration. Just good plain superhero fun

(I was thinking New Universe "counted" as Marvel, but it's easier to find in the "DU" category.)
Well I was thinking more of DUs as a company that produced books and is no longer around. New Universe from Marvel IMO does not fit the bill as Marvel is still producing books.
Malibu, CrossGen, Continuity as examples do not produce books of any kind these days. Whereas Marvel is VERY much alive. TITLES have been cancelled but the company remains intact.

Yeah... if it hadn't been called "New Universe"... and then cancelled...Knightt wrote:Well I was thinking more of DUs as a company that produced books and is no longer around. New Universe from Marvel IMO does not fit the bill as Marvel is still producing books.

it wouldn't really fit the "Dead Universe" category...
I guess there's some "cross-breeding" between the dead universes and the live ones though...
since Malibu's Exiles are more alive at Marvel than the New Universe.
But I don't guess it will hurt to leave those topics in here
if there's no major objections? (You guys make the call here...)

But New Universe isn't a division of that company anymore. Marvel killed that branch. The line hasn't been published in years. Because they were in a seperate universe (and division) that means there's a huge chance they'll never get a series agian. I mean DC owns Hardware, Static and the rest of Milestone and when was the last time that was published?Knightt wrote:Well I was thinking more of DUs as a company that produced books and is no longer around. The NU does get small cameos and rare stories once in a blue moon at Marvel but they're more homages than anything else. We know it was over for those characters years ago. Rare cameo appearances aren't the same as having a universe of comics published.
Also remember that Ultraverse became a line of Marvel comics too and Marvel probably owns the "Genesis" conecpts too and I'ld considered them all universes that are deader than a door nail.
All good points. I was just saying what I was thinking is all.
The Malibu Exiles and the current Marvel Exiles have nothing to do with each other.
The Marvel Exiles are pretty much a collection of characters (I believe all mutants) from alternate realities come to Earth and formed a team. It seems to work as an idea because the books seem to be doing pretty well in current sales and the back issue market.
