My FRICKIN' AWESOME Bob Layton commission!!!
Hey guys,
I realize this should be posted in the art section, but I know everyone does not read the threads there. Greg, feel free to move this after a day or so if you would like.
That being said - I liked Bob Layton's Solar Lithograph a LOT and was disappointed when it was cancelled. I though why not do a X-O version of it...
I emailed Bob and he was more than happy to do it for me. He work on this piece for 46 hours! I gave him a few different things I wanted on the piece, but he exceeded my expectations by a long shot! I think this one is MUCH better than the Solar. Plus this commission is HUGE - 18" x 26". I am going to get it framed and matted for the wall in my livingroom (assuming Kristi won't mind ). What do you guys think?
Thanks again Bob!!!
Chris

Chris,
Wow, very nice! Bob is the Man!
I wonder what a similar one featuring Magnus would look like?

Great piece!
Quick word of advice: if you want a copy colored at a future date, better make a photocopy of it before you seal it up in a frame, or rescan it at a higher resolution (probably 600 dpi) since you won't have access to it again. 72 dpi is okay for the web, but it's too hard to use in a graphics program and it reproduces poorly if one wants to print one off.

Y'know, I just don't see where Layton is that good of an artist...
JUST KIDDING, FOLKS!
Gawd, that's an amazing piece, I keep seeing things here that make me more jealous on top of jealous..... great stuff there, Chris, absolutely amazing work by the esteemed Mr. Layton!

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I think the X-O that's front and center with both arms in the air and Ken over to the right with his "new arm" look a little different then what I'm used to seeing Bob draw.BodaZoffa wrote:Very nice...!!!
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Bob's style of art has changed over the past year?

Bob's art usually had a very forced perspective making heads/bodies/etc. look "box" like. His recent stuff has taken on a very BWS feel. Very organic.Daniel Jackson wrote:I think the X-O that's front and center with both arms in the air and Ken over to the right with his "new arm" look a little different then what I'm used to seeing Bob draw.BodaZoffa wrote:Very nice...!!!

Hmm... I'm not picking up on Barry's style in this particular pic, but bits of it are definitely a different approach then Bob usually takes.BodaZoffa wrote:Bob's art usually had a very forced perspective making heads/bodies/etc. look "box" like.
