Valiant Nintendo and WWF books added to cover library

Listed just below the Valiant "Pre-History" books (Dell, Gold Key, Whitman),
is a new section called "Valiant - Other Publications (1990-1992)"
Currently just Nintendo and WWF are included.

Cool stuff :thumb: I never even realized they did a Dr. Mario story.
Are there any plans to put credits on them?

HUGE THANKS to Quinton Buckley (qrnd on these boards) for his help with scans and info. :applause:

Of course, there's loads more info about these books on his site:

I'd be happy to add credits if they can be determined.
(Many are probably uncredited... I think QB is working on those details.)

All the Nintendo comics I've seen were credited (I'm sure WWF was too) and QB has the credits listed on his site.

Very cool, Greg! Do you plan on adding any of the Windjammer, Armada, etc.?

Also, there were several Valiant created stories that appeared in NINTENDO POWER MAGAZINE, including Battletoads, and a Metroid poster that spanks of Bob Layton's armor artwork. There are no art credits, but the Battletoads story does say it was from Valiant. The start of the Nintendo comics was announced in issue #25 of NP in June 1990 (I think), with quotes from Shooter.---Steve

Eventually... those are Acclaim books, however,
so I'll need an "Acclaim - Other Publications" section.
(Even though Windjammer cleverly uses the compass, it's still Acclaim.)
I'm not looking forward to adding the 14,000 Magic the Gathering comics, though. :P

The key to having any comic added is high-resolution cover scans.
Until I have those, projects generally remain "for the future".

I wouldn't classify those with the comics (or comic magazines) specifically from Valiant.
They probably belong in a more expanded version of "miscellaneous items".

I do not believe that the Metroid poster was by Bob Layton, but for most of 1991 and possibly longer the comic Howard and Nester was by Art Nichols. There are even a couple of short articles mentioning him and Voyager Communications in conjunction with that comic.

Hi Q! Maybe it was Art who did the Metroid stuff as well? I recall several illustrations done for the game release where the robots looked ALOT like early Magnus robots. What do you think? I need to take some pics of the stuff.---Steve

The BEST OF NINTENDO COMICS SYSTEM was a Hardcover book. I believe there were two different ones released. They are the first two Valiant Hardbacks.---Steve

Isn't Spanish the official language of USA (ducks).

It might be the only foreign language edition created by Voyager themselves, complicating the categorisation further.

Looks like there's a problem with the larger photo, but that book is already listed.
(The larger photo will be reloaded tonight, but it will match the smaller photo on this page.)

Btw, in the soft cover TPBs I just noticed that one version has an ad for Magnus that the other doesn't have. With artwork I have not seen elsewhere...

I only have one of them. I need to check to see if the one I have is different from the one you've posted. The cover is a similar style, as I remember.---Steve
