Not Valiant related, but a sweet deal nonetheless:

I went to an auction earlier today and bought a small box of old newspapers and magazines for a dollar.

In the bottom of the box was PLAYBOY Vol. 1 #5 (Apr. 1954), and vol. 1 #10 (Sept. 1954). Both complete and in Fine to Fine+ condition.

For those who don't know, issues from the first year of PLAYBOY are highly valued and tough to find. Both of these average $200-$500 each.

I am happy. :)

You never know what you might find buried in someone's attic. I'll find that SUPERMAN #1 yet....:)---Steve

Thanks Slym... I have been studying it... the indent of the lines on the signatures... the hand print ( :thumb: ), the extra stuff... the texture of the certificate...

I agree with Knightt (from another topic), I love the tactile experience of comic books... this one especially...

I got two Pre-unity books... one was a Rai book, the other was either a Magnus book or a Rai book, I kept getting confused... but whatever, it is signed by like the author and the artist and stuff...

it even came with a cetrificate or something about it being authentic..

there was even some extra cool, extra stuff with the books...

the books were even numbered, I got #51!

All for just $40!!!! :o :o :o :o :o

anyone else see this?

This arrived today. I think that's a pretty good deal. I haven't been following the trends lately.

I thought this one was a pretty good deal, just arrived in today's mail:

Not mint, but in pretty good shape. I think I fell into this one because the gallery photo was wrong.

It pays to check spelling. Not that it would have made a difference here since it was a BIN.

-slym (seller sure does have a lot of Star Trek comics...)
Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

How does a guy who sells that many comics let something like that slip through the cracks. Oh well, good for you GGSAE.
