What would VALIANT look like 10 years later?
Let's prove MOTA wrong and prove that we are willing to discuss this!
What do you think the Valiant universe would be like 10 years later?
What effect would Shadowman's death and absence of the Darque power have on the rest of the universe?
Would the last Rai (no, not the first last one, but the other last one) really be the last Rai?
What really happened in XO #68?
Where is Magnus and Solar?
Are Bloodshot & Gilad still friends?

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
Oh please, Heath... after his babbling about this in chat ('oh, I wont post on the boards because my panties are in a wad but I will hang out in chat and babble THERE'), you are going to take this to the ring ? You know that you can't prove anything to this guy... you yourself said 'He is in a rut'.
The boards have been peaceful... lets keep it that way.

True. But I'm also interested in what people think on this topic. If the new Valiant did indeed pick up with the original universe 10 years later, what would it look like? Despite MOTA, I think that is worthy of a discussion.Knightt wrote:Oh please, Heath... after his babbling about this in chat ('oh, I wont post on the boards because my panties are in a wad but I will hang out in chat and babble THERE'), you are going to take this to the ring ? Oh, and I have no interest in stirring up any kind of strife. I genuinely just want a nice discussion. I guess I shouldn't have drug MOTA's name into it...

All incarnations of Pete/Sting/Visitor/Harbinger are dead. DEAD.
Harada is/has won the Harbinger wars, single handedly. He will win and this book will be about him being a villian.
XO is DEAD. In X-O 69 he doesn't even make it to the suit. He's shot dead at the door out of his cell.
Senator Ken is running for President. As the first gay president. Keep in mind there have been no women presidents in the Valiant Universe, either.
Magnus wakes up from a bogus dream and takes a space trip to the moon to clear his head. He finds the Malve Emperor and kills the "invasion". The year is 4001 or whatever it was in Magnus 20.
Solar goes exploring the universe in the present day. Killing stuff, saving worlds, etc...
Turok finds another Lost Land and decides to live there. No BINOSAURS. He meets Andar.
EW and A&A travel the world kinda like archeologists saving ancient treasure (and powers) from evil people. Lots of "flash backs" to their past lives in this one.
Bloodshot sometimes is for and sometimes against the EW in his quests. (No crossovers, just guest staring roles.)
Shadowman died in 1999. Master Darque and his sister did, too. End of series.
Armorines, HARD COPRS, PSI Lords, and Dr. Mirage are all dead. or can't come back.
And Rai...
This series starts with Japan in the year 3000 where Grandmother creates the first Rai, or whenever that is. We start following the adventures of the original 'fake' pre-unity Rai's.

How long can the "real world" magic last when there's lots of fantastic events? A key is that all fantastic events have been low-key all the time. The Visitor forgotten, possibly considered a publicity stunt, and so on.Heath wrote:Let's prove MOTA wrong and prove that we are willing to discuss this!

Either way, the following are quick answers. Not what I'd prefer, but simply what best fits what we know.
None. I'd say. What effect would Shadowman's death and absence of the Darque power have on the rest of the universe?
Which of the other last ones? The Blood of Heroes should live on.Would the last Rai (no, not the first last one, but the other last one) really be the last Rai?
He's still dreaming. What really happened in XO #68?
Temporarily lost.Where is Magnus and Solar?
Yes.Are Bloodshot & Gilad still friends?

Geomancer should come back, BUT every issue should be of a different Geomancer following all 42 through the Valiant Universe starting with KHANIT (Thirty-Fifth Century BC A memder of a nomadic tribe of true humans. He was the first Geomancer chosen by the Earth - See Geomancer #7 & #8) through ARMSTRONG (4020 - See Magnus #46)
It could make for some interesting and highly debated stories in the media. Like JARED SAHIN (32 AD see Eternal Warrior 17 & 18) who witnessed the crucifixion of Christ. (see hobojoe's drawing of Sahin below)

Well, he sure could have matured and aged out to still be Rai...Heath wrote:Would the last Rai (no, not the first last one, but the other last one) really be the last Rai?

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Could the problem be that this is such an obviously great idea that it won't happen. Or if it does, they will drop the ball...slym2none wrote:Pretty much EXACTLY what I was thinking!!!Unblessed wrote:"Rai: Year One"

(Of course I still don't know who they will eventually be).

Funny you should type that because I know someone who has decided to 'steal' my idea for how he thinks Valiant should be launched...leonmallett wrote:

So far that is four people for my Rai idea.

I'm sure more people will agree, so I will go ahead and say this: are you listening, Dino & Co.?cobra_commander wrote:Put me down for #5 UB. Put me down as another one who thinks Rai: Year One would be a great idea!
To modify the conversation a bit, what current creators would you assign to certain characters?
Who would you want to write this Rai: Year One series?
I always thought Larry Hamma would be a great choice to write Ninjak. But maybe that's just because I'm a big fan of his work on the GI Joe comics and the ninja characters there.
I would bring in someone of Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman calibre to write Solar - he's not a typical spandex clad superhero, he's a man with the power of a god who's trying not to actually be a god, and we need a writer that can handle the scope of that character.
The Geomancer idea sounds good too. Perhaps each issue could have a different writer and artist.
And if it were up to me, I'd have Bob Hall write & draw a maxi-series showing what happened to Shadowman between issue #43 and his death in 1999.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
